'Hello Abyss' the mode you are FORCED to play is terrible and should not be the starting experience. Despite that however, the actual core game is actually really damn fun.

From the second layer onwards, the game actually becomes terrifiying, very difficult and overall, very MADE IN ABYSS. There's a surprising amount of variety to the quests (Like, I've played for 11 hours and only did around 3 fetch quests).

Yeah, the graphics are pretty bad however I think some of the darker areas and the entrance to the third layer look very beautiful. The PS2 graphics are somewhat charming though so I'll give it that.

I wish there was some more variety to the monsters but the source material has a small amount anyway so it is what it is.

Is it worth $84? Probably not, but I still go to sleep planning my next cave raid for tommorow.

TLDR: Power through Hello Abyss to get to the main game and that's where the fun properly starts

dude what have you been smoking, im sorry but both modes are barely playable, the hello mode is unplayable with enemies re-spawning right where you are, you try to stop they surround you, you try to climb you are surrounded , the story mode is super short , level design look like they gave a lot to the first layer and gave up or got lazy on the second, the item weight is just broken on story mode , i got the switch version because i wanted the collectors edition, but what i paid for knowing lilte about the game and loving the anime the game is way to expencive.
