I think it was a bold move for Capcom to hide the true Monster Hunter experience behind 20ish hours of story and gameplay (not just speeding through it). I feel some people’s initial expectations weren't met as the story serves more like a series of tutorials. For those willing to keep playing though - you'll be rewarded with a really fun, open world monster hunter experience! Since playing MH Worlds, I've found Wilds a super fun experience! A lot of my own worries have since been relieved since getting post credits and being released into the proper game.

There are a few things I'm missing dearly - the investigation and the initial tracking to find them, the part that I feel put the hunt in monster hunter lol. The seikret doing that for you does cut that out which is partially a shame but with everything the seikret adds, I think that big bird is a great addition.
In terms of the story, I feel the bare bones of the story had so much potential, I want to know more about the world and really see it fleshed out in a much larger way. However, it was poorly propped up by predictable and generic characters and also a surprising lack of strong male characters. I would happily turn Nata into a pair of boots :)

Story aside, I can really tell how much love and passion Capcom have put into both the environments and the monsters! The concepts, designs and behaviours are incredible, it’s really inspiring as someone who has a passion for creature concepts. It’s really immersive and feels genuinely fun to explore and hunt, I find myself longing to have more time to play and never get bored of fighting the same monsters again and again.

I’m super excited to be playing as the event quests release and to see the additional content that they’re adding in the coming months!
