This is officially my favourite Rogue-Like game.
It's hardcore as f*ck, beautiful as f*ck and interesting as f*ck.

With recent full release (congrats on that, Motion Twin) game received a final look and a plot (more about it later (without spoilers, duh)). Now it has even more easter eggs (according to reddit), secrets, some brain-using areas (they're not essentially puzzles, but reward you if you use your brain) and mystery.

Level and character design are GORGEOUS in this game. Every frame can be turned into the poster and hanged on your wall.

As any good rogue-like game, Dead Cells has a lot of weapons, powers, mechanics etc. etc. Even after completing the game (my last successful run took me about 35 mins: the game is relatively short) you can finish it at least 2 more times by focusing different power-ups: brutality (melee damage), tactics (ranged and traps damage) and survival (health and parry damage). That's generalizing dividing, as you can make runs focusing specific bows, traps, swords etc.
As a bonus, killing the final boss gives you access to the harder difficulty, 5 total (including the very first). Good luck on late ones, you're gonna need it ;).

I especially like how game awards you for being fast. Hardcore games usually make you slow down and think every move, but in Dead Cells, if you want to develop quickly and open new weapons and new biomes you need to complete levels in time to access so-called "timed rooms" to earn some big bonuses.

The only thing I didn't like much is the plot. It's very basic and doesn't give explanations on many things. I guess you can get some info from randomly generated secret rooms, but it just doesn't feel right.
