Still going strong, in spite of Tripwire's questionable DLC pricing. Recommended to those who absolutely despise floors and want to murder every single one of them.

Nearly every fault in 2016's Doom reboot is addressed here and blown the ♥♥♥♥ out. This is one of the meatiest, most complex, and most badass first-person shooters since the 90's - but it's no relic. Eternal will influence games for years to come, and will be looked back on with the same fondness as its predecessors. Any fan of shooters, casual or hardcore, owe it to themselves to buy and play this titan of a game.

A great throwback to old school shooters, and an excellent game in its own right.

An oft-overlooked gem from the golden age of shooters, expertly remastered by the fine folks at Nightdive Studios. Strife manages to stand out two decades later thanks to its unique setting and clever usage of the Doom engine, heavily modified to accommodate an interconnected world and light RPG elements. Though these mechanics are primitive - and have been outclassed time and again by newer, more advanced games - they couple with the familiar quirks inherent to the id Tech 1 engine to create a one-of-a-kind experience that simply must be played. Strife is far too good to be locked away in the past: fans of old-school FPS games owe it to themselves to give it a go.

A failed attempt at rebooting an old series for a modern audience, launching in an ill-advised episodic format of which only one installment was released before the project was cancelled. SiN Episodes is, by all intents and purposes, a high budget Source mod: it looks, feels, and plays almost exactly like Half-Life 2 - down to the liberal reuse of its animations, assets, and AI.

Best played as a curiosity - a time capsule of mid-2000's industry trends, and a glimpse of what could have been. As a bonus, it comes with the original SiN, sans expansion pack and mildly censored.

One of the most stylish games to come out of Devolver's lineup, and that's saying something. Pair its satisfying gameplay loop with a surprisingly high-quality narrative and you have a recipe for instant success. Though the ending disappoints, there is more than enough here to get your money's worth.

Early Access Review
A shockingly faithful recreation of the original Half-Life, soon to be complete with the addition of the totally revamped Xen chapter. A must buy for fans of the franchise.

Considered by most to be a paradigm shift from Resident Evil's classic survival horror gameplay to a third-person shooter with horror elements, Resident Evil 5 gets nearly nauseating amounts of hate second only to its direct sequel. I can't say that much of it is undeserved. I can't argue that it provides an experience that perfectly lines up with the expectations of old school RE fans...

...but I also can't hate it. It might be a terrible horror game, but it is a damn fun action game.
