I would like to start by saying I have played too many hours of this game, and do actually thoroughly enjoy it for the most part.
The mechanics take a while to learn effectivley, and the game play is unforgiving, but highly rewarding as you get better.
I cannot AT ALL advise that anyone buy it right now however, the matchmaking system is utter shi*, before becoming prime the chances are you'll end up playing games with hackers and smurfs.

And now because prime has been out so long, when you do get prime you'll probably be against hackers and smurfs, big 'ol thumbs up for Valve right there.

Failing those terrble matchups you'll probably be match made with Russians, which is not to say that all Russians are bad, but it is to say that if you have friends who already play CSGO you should ask them about the Russians before buying.

As a new player CSGO is daunting and horrific, the only reason I still play is because I'm too scared to find a new game, my delicate psyche couldn't deal with the fast paced hackers on other FPSs.
