Early Access Review
Short & sweet. Got scared lots, had some laughs with friends. Really high quality graphic and sound design, although a couple of gameplay tweaks to be made here and there. Overall recommended, especially to play with friends

I work on Lost Ark as a tester. I'm not an MMO guy, but it's decent. If you are, you'll get some fun out of it.

This is my favorite FromSoftware game, even beating out the 10/10 game of the generation that is Bloodborne. So much so that I got the Platinum trophy on PS4 and proceeded to get 100% achievements here.

TL;DR: Just get it, full price or during a sale. It's absolutely exhiliarating. There's plenty of reasons as to why it won 2019's GoTY.

Combat flows like the ocean. Sometimes serene and fluid and at other times torrential and chaotic. The dance-like pattern of attack-defensive 'turns' of this combat is simply sublime. Not only that, but as you progress and unlock more and more prosthetic tools and combat arts, a nigh-infinite amount of combinations of moves and styles open up. The possibilities are almost endless, limited mostly by your imagination. 1-on-1 samurai combat flows like a river or a dance, while multi-combat or combat against monstrous enemies like 'zombies', monkeys, centipedes, bulls or even the famed Demon of Hatred feels like waves crashing on rocks, a firenado or a hurricane mixing with a lightning storm.

Pure, unadultered chaos.

The story is impossible to fully understand without paying attention to the NPCs' dialogues and speeches. I consider this a strength as it forces the player to completely appreciate and take in the beauty of this game, especially in Japanese.

Sekiro includes many hidden mechanics such as eavesdropping on certain NPCs' conversations to unlock extra dialogue or even two additional endings . Jumping and stealth are FINALLY fully implemented, separate mechanics, that were at best tedious in previous FromSoftware games.

Realistic graphics aren't its strong suit, but in 4K HDR at 60fps (I played it on an LG C9), it doesn't even matter. It's aesthetics are absolutely breathtaking. Gorgeous and simply wonderful to behold.

However, Sekiro's audio design is somewhat lackluster, except for one fight which is simply perfect.
If you've already playedit, you know I'm talking about the Divine Dragon's soundtrack.
Sekiro also suffers from repetitive/re-skinned mini-bosses and minor weaknesses such as a 60fps cap and poor optimization for PC (I mean, it's FromSoftware... they've never really optimized well for PC).
Nevertheless, these are minor gripes and Sekiro is still a great game. It was 2019 GoTY for a reason.

If you're a FromSoftware fan, you've already played Sekiro and either loved it or hated it.

If you've never played a FromSoftware game, this is gonna be a REAL challenge, although I guarantee you will love it. This game is a 9.5/10 for me.

Coming from a guy who's logged thousands of hours across many platforms (PS3 -> X360 -> PC), I can confidently say this is the best iteration of Skyrim yet.

TL;DR: If you've never played Skyrim, get this. It's a must play. If you're coming back to it, I can confidently say it's the best iteration of the game yet, but I wouldn't pay full price for it. It's got many improvements, but it's still the same game from 2011, only with paid mods, aka the 'Creation Club' (PS4) and also free mods (PC and X1). Bethesda doesn't even carry the paid mods between platforms (I asked for a friend to loan his Skyrim SE PS4 copy to me to get the plat, only to find out my free CC mods didn't carry over). The game ran at native 4K on a PS4 Pro, albeit at a PowerPoint speed, but that's besides the point. Just wait for a sale. Bethesda really doesn't deserve the full price.

Playing on a 4K HDR display at 60fps with it installed on an SSD is definitely a great experience, though.

To make things short, I currently have 660.2 confirmed hours across the aforementioned platforms, which would be more if I hadn't lost my original PS3 save (on which I got the Platinum trophy before the DLC came out).

I played Skyrim on PS3 with excruciatingly long loading times (enough for me to go get food). Got the plat and switched to the Xbox 360 since the PS3 release date for the DLCs wasn't announced until they dropped.
Logged a bunch of hours on that too and got 59/75 achievements. Loading times were marginally better, but pretty much the same.

I switched to PC Master Race (finally, in 2013, laptop, and 2015 desktop) and I was impressed at how fast Skyrim loaded, with 100+ mods, on a HyperX Fury SSD. 1080p max settings and 60fps was just the icing on the cake. It was a game changer.
Introduce Skyrim Special Edition to the mix (Oct. 2016). Of course I got it. Godrays, volumetric lighting, all the DLC included, higher res textures and a 64 bit engine (instead of the old 32 bit, although this really only interests heavy modders).

The game feels, and plays, essentially the same, but positively different. It feels more stable and fluid, the graphics vastly improve from the aged Oldrim look and push the Creation Engine to the limit (although I personally believe that it's still supremely aged).

The combat is entertaining, the lighting gives spells a more realistic and dynamic feel, the nostalgia factor is turned up to 11 and it's even better than I remember it. Some glitches, bugs and exploits are still here and there, but the core is the same. Performance was either really improved or it was just brute-forced by the advancements in technology. Either way, it's great.

However, it is still just a re-skin of Oldrim. It's the same game with minimal additions (basically, the Creation Club mods, some of which were free before).

I'd give Skyrim Special Edition an 8/10. It's essentially the same game, which lands it a pretty high score. This is also it's biggest downfall, since most of the core drawbacks are still present (60fps cap due to physics being tied to the framerate, although a mod called Havok fix [www.nexusmods.com] almost completely resolves that.
Right now, on PC and with this Special Edition, is the best way to play Skyrim, hands down.

I ♥♥♥♥♥♥♥ HATE this game. There's so much potential, but it's based HARD on RNG. If you're not lucky all the time, steer clear.

EDIT:
The singular reason why I can't stand games like this is the dead-set reliance on RNG to make the game challenging. Games like Dark Souls, Sekiro, Bloodborne, Witcher 3, Doom, The Last of Us, God of War, among others are some of the ones I love (even though GoW has artificial difficulty, which I don't like) due to their challenging nature and rewarding gameplay. However, these have little RNG as they are much more skill-based, while FTL relies on chance and rolling the dice, risk/reward events. I hate this ♥♥♥♥. Doesn't matter if you're a great strategist and play games like Victoria 2, Hearts of Iron, Civilization, etc. This game is still gonna ♥♥♥♥ you since there's no way of knowing whether or not it's gonna work out for you.

Very fun (especially with friends) action 2D platformer. It's got a myriad of items you can get, which makes the different builds you get virtually limitless. There are also many characters to choose from, each with their own abilities; adding to the versatility and replayability of the game. The levels are big and the story is interesting.
A short but sweet game.

The servers are objectively great. 128 tick, low ping and almost no loss and variance.
The community, on the other hand, is the most toxic ♥♥♥♥ I've ever seen. Now don't get me wrong, I know I can tilt and be toxic, but I definitely do not do that unless someone's provoked me. I almost always carry, and when I don't, I am a support player that gets traded or sets up his teammates for success. Yet in around 40-50% of games I get people who are toxic or just plain trolling, and when I get triggered I block them. Sometimes, like what happened in my last game however, I don't do that early enough and end up saying some stupid ♥♥♥♥ and I get banned but they don't. It's just like when you see a kid getting hit and he hits back, yet only the one who hit back gets punished. WTF?

TLDR: Basically MM with fewer cheaters (even though there still are some) and more trolls. Oh and a weirder ranking system (I'm A- yet somehow I get queued with C-B players. TF?

No matter how long I sit and think of a way to review this game, it's simply impossible to me.

It's got everything. Story, character depth, graphics, music, a great environment, an amazing open-world in which, during every new playthrough, you find something you yet hadn't seen, heard or known. It's got multiple endings for all characters and 3 main ones. Two breathtaking and exhilarating expansions which could very much be entire games by themselves.

Everything, and I mean EVERYTHING this game does, it does with excellence (yes, even the bugs and glitches lol). No corners were cut and you can see it. Even though not all the features the developers wanted to bring to the game were available, the game itself is still, both story-wise and gameplay-wise, a masterpiece. If you want something that will engross and envelop you, then this game is it.

I've seen the GotY edition go for as high as 85% off. Even at full price it is still a must get.

Simply put, it's nearly perfect.
