So maybe around a year ago, I would've said this was a good game.

The only reason why is because I hadn't gotten that far in, and I thought it would have a lot of content.

It didn't.

If I had to describe this game with a sentence, it would be "Touhou Luna Nights is the Rhythm Heaven of metroidvanias." A game that doesn't really do much at all aside from be charming or look good, sticking to basic mechanics that never really improve and yet still somehow people pretend it's the best thing ever.

There is NOTHING interesting to do in Luna Nights. It's a boring game with boring mechanics that I don't want to play again, because the game has given me no reason to want to.

I love this game. I just fully love it. God, I can't wait to replay it once this drama dies down.

Also, please don't flood the replies here with drama stuff. I couldn't care less, both sides are ♥♥♥♥♥♥ anyway.

So, I stopped playing this game on PC a while ago. I just sorta forgot about it. However, recently I decided to pick up the Switch version of the game, since I did thoroughly enjoy the game from what I had played.

I recently beat it, and wow.... this is a great game.

The story starts off sort of slow, however once you meet Balthier and Fran, two of my favourite characters in the entire series now, the game suddenly picks up, and the story becomes something amazing, mostly fueled by interactions between the characters.

The gameplay itself is fun. After meeting the two aforementioned characters, you unlock access to the Gambit System, essentially a mostly customisable AI for the party members, including the one you control.

I say mostly here, because to properly use the gambits, you have to buy gambits from their respective stores. From gambits that activate when a character's MP is low, to activating against the foe with the highest amount in a particular stat, the gambit system is free to control limited only by the fact that an action can only be caused with a single gambit, meaning you can't have something that would be, say "Foe HP < 30% & Foe Status = Oil, use Fira".

As for optional content, the game has many optional areas. One of the likely more known ones is in the Salikawood, where there is an optional boss fight against King Bomb (which was actually where I quit in the PC version, I didn't know this boss was optional and I couldn't beat it.), which after defeating it, you unlock access to a new path in the Salikawood that leads to two new areas entirely unrelated to the main path, the Necrohol of Nabudis and the Nabreus Deadlands.

Another form of optional content this game has is Hunts. Near the start of the game you are allowed to join a clan known as Clan Centurio, which after joining, lets you access the clan shop, and take Hunts from various NPCs. First, you take a hunt from the board, then you find the person who put it there, talk to them for info on the location of your hunt, go slay the mark and then talk to them one last time to end it.

By doing hunts, your clan rank increases, which allows you to take on harder hunts, but also unlocks new Magicks, accessories, and the like.

Overall, Final Fantasy XII really grew on me, and I'll probably be playing it for quite a long time.

Score: 5/5

I love this game.

But I can't give it any good reviews.

The game consistently crashes in Chapter 13, on both paths, and it is now IMPOSSIBLE for me to progress.

This software is helping me to develop a game that I've planned for years.
I hope that more DLC comes soon.
