Early Access Review
Review for version 0.7.5

A really fun top down shooter with tanks.

You start by first picking a tank from a wide selection of vehicles: light tanks, mediums, heavies, multi turreted vehicles, tank destroyers and you can even pick a kettenkrad.
Afterwards you get to pick a stage where you fight increasingly difficult groups of opponents starting from light armored cars to facing off against Maus or Tiger tanks.
After you win you get to either choose upgrades for your tank like better armor, speed upgrades or reload speed, or turrets from different vehicles. You wanna slap a KV-2 turret on a Tiger II chassis? You can do that. Chruchill AVRE on a Flakpanzer? Got you covered! If your chosen gun is too strong and the tank body too light you can even flip your vehicle. I love this, tanks doing barrel rolls when they fire their guns is just epic :D

Keep in mind that the game is still in early access and currently only has 3 different maps which can get a bit repetitive and 3 different battle types - survival, in which you're being hunted down by enemy tanks from all sides, defense, where you need to protect a point on the map and a capture mode, wher you have to capture and hold a point on the map.

So far i'm enjoying the game a lot and comrade commissar is best girl :v

A short but sweet platformer about cats :3

You play as Kimchi the cat and one day your owner just walks away from you while being distracted. And thus your feline adventure begins and it will take you from the graveyard to the city up and you'll end up climbing a skyscraper. Quite a feat for a cat who is looking for his owner. You'll also meet a slew of internet popular cats on your way, like Oskar and Nala.

The graphics are nice and smooth with hand drawn animations and a lot of attention to detail, at least on the kitties. The dogs, rats and pigeons, whom you'll be facing throughout the games' 5 stages are a tad simpler compared to the cats. You can tell that the devs put a lot of effort into making the game look good.

The sound is ok, but the soundtrack is great! It has soothing tunes and you'll fall in love with the end credits music.

The controls feel good, but there is a small delay when pressing the jump button and Kimchi actually jumping. But you'll get used to it in a few minutes.

In the short time (a little over 2 hours) it took me to 100% the game i haven't encountered any crashes, slowdowns or other problems.

Loads of action and loads of enemies... can get a bit repetitive though.

Overture has basic pixel-art graphics and a great soundtrack.

You can pick a character from 4 distinct groups and every group contains a few different hero types. After that you're thrown head fisrt into the action. You can move around a medium sized arena and your goal is to descend 10 floors and kill the final baddie. Combat is simple: hold LMB for your basic attack, which can be a quick slash or a stream of fireballs depending on who you chose to play as, and RMB is your hero's stronger ability, for instance the Druid can shapeshift or the Arsonist can randomly lay down flames that continually damage your enemy. There is also a sprint mechanic where you make your character follow the mouse cursor and it will give you a small speed boost as long you don't attack during the sprint.

Action can get a bit hectic, because sometimes there is so much going on screen: enemies, damage numbers, loot, fireballs. It can be a total mess at times, but it won't last longer than a few seconds, either you kill all enemies or the trample you. After the battlefield calms down you can pick up t3h ph4t l3wt left by the enemies. Items like armor to raise your defense, heal you or boost your attack power are all present here.

After you die (this will happen a lot) or beat the game (this takes some practice to do) you will be shown the result gravestone telling you how many enemies you've defeated and how much gold you were able to snatch. Gold can be used to unlock new character classes and permanently increase their attack power - you will need to do this to stand a chance at the later stages of the game.

Final verdict: A simple and hectic hack&slash that can get a bit repetitive, but overall a nice time killer. :>

So, you want to be a kung fu master? You think you have what it takes? Speed? Reflexes? Hand-eye coordination?

This is exactly what this game is about! Forget fancy combos and complicated mechanics, this is about the bare bones basics of attacking left and right. Sounds simple right?

You take control of a stickman standing in the middle of the screen and punch and kick yourself through hordes of colorful enemies, ranging from the one-hit gray dude up to a 10+ hit brawler, all with the help of only TWO buttons. What about movement you say? There is none, your character has two zones on his sides and when an enemy enters one of these zones you can attack him until he drops to the ground, but you won't have much time to celebrate, because his buddies will be flooding you from both sides and with increasing speed. These attack zones can be extended by picking up weapons scattered about the level or drop by slain bad guys or by using skills like Unarmed Master. Some enemies also carry bows, bombs or throwing daggers, these spell instant death for any enemy unlucky to "catch" them.

There are also different styles of levels: you have the classic Mob Rounds where you just beat up enemies until the counter reaches 0, Speed Rounds in which you have to defeat a small number of foes, but you need to repeat it 4 times and the enemies get faster and faster every round. There are also Defender and Bomb Rounds, but they are few and far between and you need to deflect daggers thrown at you or use bombs only to beat these stages.

Special mentions goes to bosses and Lightsword/Nunchaku rounds. Boss battles are 1 on 1 (or 1 on 2 in the later parts of the game), where the boss changes colour and you have to change your attack pattern to suit the new coulour scheme (most of which you will face throughout the game, so you don't go totally blind into a fight).
Lightsword and Nunchaku stages consist of a frantic onslaught of weak enemies, which get progressively faster the more you beat up, finished with a boss who plays like a very tough brawler from normal stages.

Graphics are simple with a few occasional special effects, like punching an opponent into the screen or a few light trail effects in the Nunchaku and Lightsword levels.

Sound is nice, punches and kicks connecting sound good. Background music is reminiscent of old kung fu flicks, with a few electronic songs mixed in (made by F-777).

One Finger Death Punch suffers from the "just one more level and i'm off to bed" syndrome. The game will sink it's teeth into you until you get that Platinum medal and Perfect rating on the stage you are playing.

And the bonus survival level, which is unlocked in the later stages of the game, shows you what cat owners have to go through when gaming. :D

The Verdict:

5€ Is an awesome price for the loads of fun it will provide and you can play it for a few minutes or a few hours in one session and with virtually no learning curve i can reccommend it to the casual crowd and the hardcore gaming folk.

Imagine Vigilante 8: Second Offense crossed with S. T. A. L. K. E. R.

Set in a postapocalyptic world, you, a young farmer with a truck, have to trade, fend off bandits and discover what happened to your father.

You can (and have to) outfit your vehicle, ranging from simple buggies to heavy duty trucks to armored personnel carriers, with all manner of weaponry including machine guns, shotguns, missile launchers, energy weapons, mine layers, tank cannons and mortars. There are also gadgets that improve your car such as extended fuel tanks, weapon cooling systems and turbo boosters among other things.

Towns serve as trading posts, repair stations and quest hubs. Most quests revolve around delivering goods to other towns, escort missions (which are few and far between) and kill as many bandits as possible in a set time limit (usually 3 minutes).

Graphics are ok, keep in mind that this is an older game.

Music is fitting to the postapocalyptic setting, consisting mostly of rock tunes, my favorite theme being the one which plays in Hel. Although i wish there were more tracks.

Guns sound good, i really like the meaty sound of the cannons.

All in all it's a nice game, i got around 16 hours of gameplay on my 1st run (there is a certain amount of back tracking).

Be sure to check out the forum for a step by step guide to prevent the game from crashing and how to run it in 1920x1080 resolution.

One powerful story. The game lets you choose to be an ♥♥♥♥♥♥♥ or a good guy. Or anything in between, nothing is black and white.

If you like drama then give this game a go. Be warned though, it plays more like a life sim and not a jrpg. There's no combat, only lots of choices to make.

One of the best shmups you can get your hands on. It has the old school feel of games such as G-Darius or Zero Wing, plus it adds an awesome feature of customising your battle ship. Customize with a capital C. You start off with a few pea shooters and as you progress you get access to lasers, frag guns, missiles, bombs and new ships. Every weapon also has several levels of upgrades, including fire rate, damage and special effects like penetration or shrapnel rounds. The campaign is fairly long, spanning through various environments such as outer space (duh), jungles and even underwater. Some of the bosses will give a run for your money and defeating them comes with a sense of accomplishment. Replayability is also high, after clearing the final boss battle you start the campaign from the beginning on a higher difficulty. There are many secrets to discover, ranging from new ships and weapons to "Lame secret spot marking items" which can be sold for cash in the shop after every mission.
