In the state the game currently is in, I don't think this game is worth buying.

It's posed as a DOOM-esk sort of game and I just don't think that it's a good idea to try to capture the experience playing DOOM is with a sword game... In DOOM, you have a whole arsenal of guns that can be combo-ed together that are good in certain situations, tons of movements options, and a whole horde (literally) of enemies to go up against. There's so many combinations of scenarios and strategies you could put into play. DOOM isn't just shoot demons. It has tons of nuance and strategies that put the skill cap insanely high.

Everslaught on the other hand just feels like, go in, kill things, be done. It doesn't feel like it has nuance. Every encounter is just: swing sword, dodge, repeat. That's all it is. There's no strategy for me to employ, no weapon combos to get me out of certain situations, nothing. Sure, you have the wrist mounted gun, but it's so limited in terms of DPS and ammo that it's really just not worth using half the time. You also have the grappling hook which is really just a gimmick. You can grapple onto enemies and points placed in the world. That's it. It also has a 3 second cooldown time (when you start, it can be reduced over time) which just makes it really useless. I don't have much freedom to use it and overall it just doesn't do much damage.

This game is just boring. There's nothing to do. There's no strategies you can employ. Nothing. It's a game you spend 2-3 hours on once and never play again.

I've done 10-15 or so runs, and am level 9 (or 10 can't remember) yet I feel like nothing has changed since I started playing the game. Sure I have a better sword than when I started, and some of my stats are technically better, but they're by so little, it just doesn't come into play when you're actually playing the game.

A more accurate comparison to this game is something you play in an arcade, that you play every time you go to the arcade, but never any more. There's just not enough to do to merit buying it on your own because it's the same every time.

It's not even that difficult, at least in my opinion. Like I said before I'm level 9 or 10 and I haven't come even close to dying a single time. There hasn't been a single time I thought to myself, "I might not make it out of here", except for the one time I got stuck in a pit and couldn't get out. It also doesn't have any difficult settings. It's just start playing. Which makes it feel even more like an arcade game. It almost feels designed to play once and never again. There's really no way to make this game difficult without playing it for like 3 hours which is just stupid.

It also has no left hand support. I'm a leftie and I had to swing my sword with my right hand which wasn't terrible but was definitely not ideal. Oh, and because of this be prepared for your right arm to hurt like hell but your left to feel perfectly fine. You cant switch the sword and gauntlet hand which is just annoying.

I'd also like to bring up the controls just once. They're a bit clunky. You have to turn your hand to use your gun, and put your hand flat, palm down, to use your grappling hook. There's also a stat page that you can access by putting your hand vertical and facing your palm to your face. It sounds nice on paper, but is never really taught to you and is more something you need to figure out on your own leaving new players (me included at one point) to just fiddling trying to figure out why the hell their gun isn't firing.

On a more positive note, the game does look very nice, especially for a Unity game. It's also is mostly bug free; I haven't run into a bug that was really game breaking. It's sound design is ok, not great but definitely not garbage.

Overall, don't get this game. It looks nice on paper, but overall the gameplay loop is just always the same. There's no nuance or variation like other games have. It doesn't give me adrenaline and make me feel like a viking dude killing zombies. It more makes me feel like a dude in a room with a weird headset on wiggling a sword. It spectacularly fails to capture what makes DOOM special.

The rotation will change on its own over time. Like I'd say over a 2hr gaming session it would have moved by over 2-3 rotations on its own
