Kind of unfortunate these games passed me by when they were coming out - I can't speak on the following two as I haven't played them yet (and I will be soon, hopefully) but this one in particular really hit a lot of boxes for a game I would love. Great atmosphere, great enemy design, and an engaging story to boot. I think it's funny that this is widely considered a FPS game, yeah I get that by definition it is because it's in first person and you shoot things, but mechanically as far as FPS games go? It's pretty bad. But viewed through the lens of an action-horror title, I think the combats jankiness and the frustrations with aiming and ammo management became a lot more tolerable. Added to the atmosphere in my opinion, at least for the first few hours of the game. Also, play this game on hard. I did and I just know I would've had a worse experience if I had played it on the lower difficulties.
