Well, nobody knows how they got to play this game in their childhood...

...but everybody knows the panic when the balls get closer to the skull.

I have played souls games more than 1k hours I believe. I really like the concept of this series and enjoy playing them. But this game is my least favourite and as far as I have seen, most of souls community agrees on that. If you haven't played the good ol' first game, you should play it first and then try this one out. Rest of my review will be a comparison of the first game and Dark Souls II.

+ For pros I can just say two improvements: new weapon types/spells and power stance mechanic. But the ♥♥♥♥♥♥ gameplay won't let you enjoy these two. (Also there are 2 good bosses in the Iron King DLC. But in my opinion rest of the bosses are sh*t. I couldn't decide if this is a pro or con but there it goes.)

- For cons I will start from gameplay. There are 3 major problems about this game in terms of gameplay. First is the ♥♥♥♥♥♥ hitboxes. An enemy's swing can hit your sorry undead ass even if you are on the other side of the fricking realm. I'm not kidding, no I'm really serious about that. Just watch youtube videos about that. Second is the adaptability mechanic. This game does not give you proper i-frames while rolling if your adaptability is not high. I don't even know what they were thinking, but this is the result. Third is the lazy enemy/boss designs. Developers put 3326436 enemies in a 10m2 room just to make the game "harder". I believe they didn't understand that souls games' focus is not difficulty and even you make such a ♥♥♥♥♥♥ decision, by doing this you will make the game not hard but frustrating. Same thing goes for bosses too. And their design is even worse.

- Developers tried to come up with a new idea for story, I believe, but they changed their mind halfway through. So story does not fit overall. Level design is basically against every law that universe is based upon, so it doesn't make sense too. You can easily understand some areas are there for the player to pass through, not a place that real people could actually live. However in the good ol' first game, it was quite the opposite.

TL;DR: If you are new to the series, go and play the first game. Then, come to this one. Dark Souls II is not a bad game, I can easily say it is better than most of the games out there. But it is by FAR the worst souls game.

I really enjoyed playing this game. Its art design is insanely good. It really just looks like the Looney Tunes cartoons. There is little to no story but gameplay is so good that it probably will make you don't even care about it. Soundtrack is great, you can just listen to them while studying. I also recommend checking out the developers' story. It is pretty inspiring.

The game is quite hard though. I do enjoy games which requires you to git gud, so I had no problems with this aspect. If you are just a casual player I would suggest that you should think twice before buying Cuphead. People are saying that this game is a soulslike game and I really hope that's just a meme. Seriously. If a game is hard it is not enough to make it soulslike lmao.
