Full Disclosure I have so many hours in this game because I have been speedrunning it for 6 years. I've made several videos about this game as well. If you have ANY questions about the game at all, even technical, reach out to me and I will have an answer. This game is basically my adopted child at this point, so this review IS BIASED.

What a Terrible Game
Enclave is still totally beautiful. This hack and slash Action RPG was ahead of its time when it originally released in 2002. Starbreeze had a great engine, and a great team working on it. The level design is fantastic and non-linear, so there's a lot of depth to the levels, and you'll get lost exploring the engaging scenery and all the twists and turns of wherever the world can take you. There's 2 campaigns with a combined 31 levels total to go through (including bonus levels). The music is phenomenal and smoothly transitions based on if you are in combat or not. The game uses a money progression system in lieu of RPG levels so you can afford better equipment on future levels to deal more damage and take less. Finding the money is a hunt and one of the main challenges. If you find all 13,000 gold, you unlock a chick with a Rocket Launcher.

A main complaint is about combat, but actually hit detection is true to the mesh of the characters and objects, which can unfortunately mean there's lots of missing. Aside from this, the 12 different classes you get to play as all have their own playstyles, especially with the Druid/Lich (Caster / Summoner), Huntress/Assassin (Archer / Sniper), and Engineer/Bombardier (Bombs and Bombs). Some classes also have advantages through their speed (Halfling / Goblin) and unique weapons available to them (Godly Poison bolts).

The story is kind of boilerplate fantasy. Here it is:
The lands are magical, and the demon lord Vatar wants to suck up the magic. There was a war 1000 years ago because of this. The wizard "Zale" put a halt to everything by causing a circular rift in the world which created the Enclave of Celenheim. The people of Celenheim got lazy and stupid over those 1000 years and forgot that the outlanders wanted their magic lands. Now the lands are healing themselves, and Vatar is like "Oh hey now we can cross again" so now there's a big battle ensuing over the land. Celenheim needs help from their allies if they want to stand a chance, but the allies are so isolated and far away, also there's a big outlander fortress blocking their way back. That's what you take care of on the Light Side. On the Dark side, you help some goth chick named Mordessa summon back Vatar through making a virgin sacrifice of the Celenheim princess, then you siege the hell out of them.

The Assassin is the best character because she wears a mask, and so should you.

How long will you be entertained by this $5 game
About 3-4 hours if you're just wanting to play through something casually. Get it for a day, stream it, have some fun. You will have fun.

Also, everyone plays as the druid because of her butt.
