Early Access Review
Smite 2 is a great step forward for the franchise, and while I don’t think it deserves the overly harsh criticism it’s been getting, it’s also not without its flaws. The game feels more modern and polished compared to its predecessor, with improved visuals, faster-paced gameplay, and a more dynamic Conquest mode. The addition of new objectives and features like lane teleportation portals keeps matches engaging and fresh.

As for the monetization concerns, the "battle pass for gods" system isn’t entirely new. In Smite 1, you had to purchase mastery skins separately, whereas Smite 2 at least offers some bonuses alongside the progression. It’s not perfect, but it’s a step in a better direction.

Having played Smite 1 since the closed beta, my perspective might differ from newcomers, but overall, I think Smite 2 is a solid game. I’ve recommended it to friends, and they’ve all enjoyed it enough to stick around. If you’re on the fence, I’d say give it a try rather than jumping on the hate bandwagon. It’s not flawless, but it’s a fun and worthy successor to the original.
