Big fan of the series as a whole, as the sixth in the line they pretty much have it down to a science how to make an overly complicated digital board game.

The one thing I am not a fan of is needing to spend over $130 for all the content so ill give you some tips to be able to play this game for the least amount of money possible.
1) NEVER NEVER NEVER buy the $5 DLCs, they are overpriced for the amount of content they add and there are ways to get the content either in the platinum edition or the new frontier pass.
2) The platinum edition is (at time of this review) the most cost efficient way to get the base game and both major content DLCs, while also getting all the $5 DLCs that were released day one. It is priced at $160ish when full price, but has gone on sale for around $60 more than once. Waiting for a sale is the only way to not get completely ripped off. DO NOT pay full price for (as of the time of this review) a 4 year old game. This is the edition of the game you should buy if you want the full experience of the game.
3) The New Frontier Pass is currently not worth the $40 it is priced and never will be, (as of the time of this review) it comes with the two $5 DLCs that are not included in the platinum edition and changes two base game civs. It also comes with the four other $5 DLCs that are not currently out and won't all be until March 2021. This means it updates two civs which isn't really worth anything and six $5 DLCs meaning if you were to wait until March 2021 you could get all the DLCs individually for only $30 and that is without waiting for a sale.

The business practices used to sell this game are awful and I wish I didn't have to wait for a sale to buy this content for the prices of the previous games. It is a predatory tactic that only works on uninformed consumers.
