Surprisingly Addictive, Even If You Hate Poker

Chapter 1: My Experience

Personally, I’ve never been into card games, and I know absolutely nothing about poker. Yet somehow, I’ve been completely addicted to Balatro for the past few weeks. This game caught me completely off guard.
You have to give it a chance—and I mean a REAL chance. At first, it can feel overwhelming, even though it looks deceptively simple. Especially for someone like me, who never touches roguelikes or poker games, the start was a little confusing.
My advice? Take it slow at the beginning. Read everything carefully, don’t rush, and if you’re still struggling, watch a few videos online to get the hang of it. Once you understand the basics, everything clicks into place, and the gameplay becomes endlessly satisfying.

Chapter 2: What’s the Goal?

The goal of Balatro is to progress through rounds by building poker hands that score enough points to win. But here’s the twist: it’s not about real poker strategy; it’s about using jokers, cards, and upgrades to create crazy combos and multipliers.
Winning: Each round has a score threshold you need to hit. Your job is to make hands like pairs, flushes, or full houses, while boosting your score with special cards and upgrades.
Simple Tips: Start small, experiment with joker cards that fit your playstyle, and focus on building powerful synergies. The game rewards creativity and smart decision-making.

Chapter 3: Short Summary

I don’t play cards, I don’t play poker, and I’ve never touched a roguelike before—yet Balatro has me completely hooked. Take your time, be patient, and let the game unfold. Once you get the hang of it, you’ll experience one of the most addictive and satisfying games out there.
Highly recommended, even for total beginners like me.
