The game is pretty fun too.

This is a good game. If you liked the old SWAT series, this is right up your alley.
As it stands, the game is currently being review bombed because the developer chose to make a small number of cosmetic changes. Even though most of the changes were minor enough that I wouldn't have even noticed them if the devs hadn't announced them outright. Snowflake behaviour, amirite?

Composer is a nazi. Lead developer goes to bat for him even though he doesn't show any signs of "getting better". No thank you.

It runs incredibly bad, it only seems to get worse every patch. The performance alone is worth a negative review.
Weapon balance is in a terrible state. Longsword's optimal dps is a degenerate 1->2->repeat spam instead of engaging with their mechanics and Capcom completely failed to address it when it appeared that they were attempting to. I'm surprised any bowgun users are still playing the game with the state their weapons are in, as well.

It's just sad.

This is a fun game. It obviously has a lot of similarities to Balatro, but it's different enough in good ways that it stands on its own.
And watching the numbers fly when you get a really strong hand going makes the brain cells go brrrrrrr

I'm bad at this

This game feels aggressively half-assed in basically every aspect. The combat is passable but not great. Most of the characters look alright but a lot of the animations and poses are awkward. The story is mediocre, the plot feels rushed, and the writing is poor.
Other random bits make the game feel like it was made without care. If you backtrack to a previous town during some points, like a quest might make you do, your party members will be in the town acting like you hadn't left yet. Sometimes weapons are available for purchase well before you can possibly have a class that can use them. Some basic class abilities work very inconsistently. The way jumping feels like it kills your momentum.
It's not a terrible game, but if you ask me to give it a Yea or a Nay, it has to be a Nay. Just get Trials of Mana instead.

I adore this game. The world design is great, the level design is solid, the abilities are generally good, though some options feel obviously stronger than others. Importantly, the game never feels unfair even when it's being very punishing.
Some people might dislike the gore and body horror, but it's mostly front-loaded and doesn't really escalate.
The OST is also fantastic.

The game is pretty good.
The publisher stinks but they seem to have relented for now.
