This game came out on my birthday, and my friend got it for my birthday, and it's fantastic. The writing and worldbuilding is great and it's a super fun game. 9/10 Highly recommend.

My only complaint is:
that some major story changes don't feel super consequential long term. You can save characters who would otherwise die, but they then are mostly just around with default dialogue and have little story impact. Also, all the amazing buildup leads to endings that feel a little abrupt and sudden, not necessarily a full culmination of all of your decisions.

However, this is not enough to upset the super immersive and wonderful characters and storytelling you encounter on your journey. Absolutely wonderful and a must play.

This game is just marching band

This game is another excellent work from Supergiant Games. The fact that they're selling this game which is worth being a 60$ title for 20$ right now is insane, and the amount of high quality voice work and dialogue, smoothness and fun of the gameplay, and sheer amount of content make this a masterpiece. Easy 9/10. The thematics of the plot don't sit perfectly well with me, but that doesn't do much to take away from the fantastic nature of the rest of the game.

A powerful, compelling experience with beautiful writing and intense gameplay. One of my few 10/10s. Definitely play this if you're considering it.

Fantastic. A game that scratches that skill check based writing style gameplay that hasn't been scratched since Sunless Sea for me. An absolutely excellent must play game as long as you're down for the intrigue and reading involved.

This game has some of the most incredible writing of anything I have ever played or read. It's not perfect, but it's my personal favorite. This game is mostly reading text-based stories, and it's where the game really shines, along with it's outstanding atmosphere and vibe. Definitely one of the best lovecraftian-esque games around.

I recommend not playing this with the roguelike no-save system, at least the first time. If you die you just end up having to repeat stories, which isn't super entertaining for me. At the same time, maybe ride out the consequences of some of your bad decisions that are bound to happen.

Overall I cannot recommend this game more. Please go explore its incredible world.

I didn't originally play through this game on Steam, but I have to write this review just to say that Doki Doki Literature Club is simply a masterpiece of writing and game design. Don't let the game's design fool you: you have to play this game blind to truly get the full experience. Now go play it already.

This game is spectacular. If you could get a group of friends together to play this, it would be fun to no end. Don't let the looks decieve you, this is not your typical first person shooter; the commander plays the game like an RTS, and he has to work closely together with his team to lead to victory. Warning: Stalemates in this game can take an hour or longer to finish.
