The game itself is unfathomably mediocre, some incredible mechanics in a really poorly thought out semi-linear world, but the minibosses / bosses and the way they interact with the gameplay and force you to get better make up for it.

You can't cheese them or farm for 3 hours in order to oneshot the bosses with an uber-powerful build, you need to put in the time to experiment with what works and what doesn't, you need to find openings in their seemingly endless combos, know when to deflect and when it would just be better to dodge, when to use your prosthetic abilities, etc.

The bosses are almost purely mechanical skill against one opponent while the rest of the game feels like they're trying to overwhelm you with numbers with mechanics that work best against a singular enemy mixed in with very unsatisfying exploration, though I still recommend the game since the bosses are easily the best in the souls-like genre and pretty much the only reason I still have it installed.
