Gave the game a little go and i'm impressed by what i played. I just played Planet Crafter and was disappointed by the late game. Also realized this game handled dying alot better. I ran out of oxygen in Ocean World and the character started yelling, screen was turning red and I was losing health. It wasn't a sudden death either so I could get to the base just fine if I fudged up.
The graphics are really nice and I hope the final product has more defined art. It looks rough, but being in Alpha will have that effect on you lol.

Not recommended Due to the simple fact the damage you do by comparison to the bullet sponge units are obnoxious. I've seen videos where you need 12 turrets, but a completely walled off base by wave 10 to survive upper level enemies or Heavies. I didn't look, but i'm gonna guess fully tiered turrets as well.
I ran into a big guy on wave 7 so earlier. Pulled him to 2 turrets which were T3. The turrets struggled, my maxed pistol did nothing. When he finally died? He fell on me and I got a game over...
Recap:
Took around 3mins to kill him with a surprise attack 1v3-game over due to technicality.
The waves are worse because turrets don't prioritize them so they get free reign to assbuck you. To hammer my point home I have tested the explosives and they all do nothing damage. Turrets do something after some time of kiting maxed out and in numbers. If it's a wave you better home your at the point to prioritize the wave so your turrets can do there job cuz you dead.
I understand there folks that live gaming and good for you. I want to jump in a game with clear rules of engagement that function as intended. Turrets that kill at maxed lvl. Weapons that kill at max level. Enemies that scale with waves. This game doesn't do that. It's chaotic and takes random generation to the extreme.

It had a good review until I found part of the map wasn't completed... I was jumping on rocks and hovering than I started clipping through the map and found myself in an alternate reality. Thought it was a secret. Than I discovered the thing was broken cuz it got worse till I fell through it. I restarted and it kept happening when I hovered over the rocks near that part of the map. It was an entire side of the map, not a little baby avoidable segment. So yeah, not recommending this until later in development. It's got good bones imo and is fun when it works, but this is inexcusable.

Gameplay: The game is incredible. Exploration is fun and kept me chugging through the issues that made me not recommend it. Overall, I think the game is enjoyable and I wish it was functionally better made and possibly better thought out from beginning to end. At this point, I think the game was piece mealed.

Issues:
Bluetooth Controller Disconnects- This from what I've been seeing is a wide spread, long term issue. I'm using a Xbox controller and it works fine for about a day (6 hours approx Total Game time). Than after that it will do what everyone says and disconnect repeatedly. This is in and out of active use. So I can be in combat and the controller will DC for 1-3 seconds or I could be on the phone. This is not acceptable in the modern age of gaming where Bluetooth compatibility is normal. Their should also be a warning if the case that BT isn't possible for controllers to curb any player issues at this point since the concern is 2 years old at least.

Aiming- The ability to aim in certain situations can get you killed and be a complete pain in the a$ $. It's usually in water, steep hills or when the camera takes a sharp first person zoom due to terrain shifts. During combat this can turn your health to zero if your not in open territory, constantly moving. If you stand still for a second, and get caught by a terrain shift or on a mountain range? The aiming has a big chance to screw up and blind you.
In water, you simply can't look all the way up. So how you swim is how your view is and that doesn't change even when you stop. So your eyes technically always look forward and upward view is always limited by comparison to lower. Doesn't make sense when you come to a complete stop in water and try to look up or stand on the shore and are supposed to have full upward view. Another words, building in the water is minimum annoying and for me, rage quit frustrating.

Conclusion (if you got this far)- The Exploration, mining, characters and story are my favorite aspects, but the combat, controller support, and technical support behind the game are just bad. It seems like the game was built for Consoles and we got what was left on PC.

I've been getting back into the game after giving up on it for apparent reasons. I will give a quick review for preupdate 2.0 and post update.

Preupdate to Postupdate:
The perk system was simple and it dropped damage into the mix. It wasn't really diverse imo. It didn't have the flair of 2.0, just a bunch of stats increases.
Gear was a mix of functional and cosmetic. If you wanted to have any control of your look, the wardrobe was a necessity. Couldn't just put clothes on without looking like a drunk hooker promoting a anime fetish. 2.0 makes it much easier from what I found because the clothes are cosmetic, while you get armor from the Cyberwear and the rest of the game.
Weapons seem really solid. Coming from the clear buffs in the perk system and now relying on tactics and cyberwear is different, but Red balanced the game really well behind the changes. Using a white weapon is reasonable and upping rarity and damage is fulfilling. I like not having to worry about the loss in perk points in damage.

Mcassholes Final Thoughts:
Hold your partner tender, tell them you appreciate their efforts in your life. You never know when they wanna "pitch, instead of catch".

Sooooo....
Played on Xbox pass than after a few hours of play I was like, "I've paid for pron. So I can support something that gives me Happiness and Joy for a change"...

Note: I have more playtime, Xbox Series Never getting again has more playtime on it.

Summary- The game is really good. I really compare it to Diablo 3 in regards to the content and playstyle. Nothing really big and bad, but the story and the universe is the draw here.

Story: This is a great depiction of the Warhammer 40k universe. I never had the money to dive into the table top game and always loved the games on PC. This game was just great to listen to alone, from the sound effects to the voice acting. Hearing the Plague Marines haunt my ears with their gargle voices was terrific.

Gameplay: I started off by saying it's similar to Diablo 3. I say that because of the simplicity. It's not a 1 v 1 with how it's done because this is more RPG than reliance on gear. Yes, you rely on gear, but you have many ways to add points to your character via RPG options. The world is also very large, but I noticed alot of the maps are recycled after a while. They are re-textured and objects are different, but they do repeat. There is plenty to do because the game throws side missions at you like Takis to children with ADHD. (yes I went there... I worked at a special education assistant teacher, I've seen stuff...)

Rewards: The difficulty is really interesting. Lots of options from normal to I don't know lol, cuz I lost track after impossible. Impossible adds 5 levels and I'm like ♥♥♥♥♥♥♥♥, these guys 2 shot me? I'm like, who do I have to impregnate with this missile launcher to get a better piece of armor? Buuut that's the fun, the higher the difficulty, the higher the challenge and the better the loot. the loots always good at higher difficulties and has been worth the trouble.

Season event: The recent Season event is the Judgment thing, lost track of the name because i've been having fun. In short, you run around in non-story missions and it highlights guys, those guys turn bright, those guys you shoot, those guys go boom and give their buddy aids, you shoot the buddy with aids, they pass aids to their buddy, rinse and repeat. Ta daaaa, you have a badass season. Much better than Diablo 3 lol. Simple, effective, makes me wanna go back and unleash the wrath of god on some ass. Because I'm a simp that spends hundreds on onlyfans and need to connect with my man hood again. Why not with an old white guy with a Santa beard murdering aliens in a video game I got in a lovely Steam Sale :D
