Forced PSN account months after release (and far past the refund window).

Now that the server situation has been greatly improved I am changing my review to reflect this. I think the game is worth buying and playing right now that it is realistically playable again. I'm anticipating that the remaining bugs/issues will be fixed in time and I look forward to the future content the devs have in store for the game!

Helldivers 2 should not even be listed for sale at this point as the chance for any new purchaser of this game to play is slim to nothing.

If you have not heard, the servers are filled to max capacity and the developers did not even have the foresight to develop a proper queue-system (something that, by the way, has been a standard feature for MMORPG's for at least a decade). So what this means currently is that every time you try to launch the game you have an extremely small chance of getting to play but most likely you will end up staring at a timer that will repeatedly try to connect to the server (giving you a random and extremely small chance of getting in, again, no proper queue system).

There is also rumors that players are staying AFK when not playing so as to reserve their spot on the servers. There is currently no feature that prevents this by kicking AFK players and this exacerbates the server issues further.

Now this situation has been developing since launch along other problems and bugs such as matchmaking being broken (a fairly core feature of a live service coop game), rewards disappearing or being granted retroactively and features like unlocking strategems or ship modules being unavailable. When I first tried to play Helldivers 2 I actually had to spend hours troubleshooting in order to even get the game to start because it would black screen.

The game launched 8 February and ten days later is still not playable. There is no offline/single-player mode so there is no fallback if the servers do not work.

To put it simply: It is unacceptable to sell a product that does not work.
