it's good enough, but it's a downgrade in so many ways (starting with ragdoll/physics/parkour flow).

Impact from hitting zombie now seems worse: when zombies fall from roofs some animation starts to play instead of just ragdoll falling. Hitting them with foot don't push them back normally. When zombies try to stand up and you hit him with some pipe it's not really visible that some weighty thing fell on his head – he doesn't even nod. Early 2000 game feeling when the impact wasn't animated at all, like Morrowind. Other hits make them fly easily, like it's the scripted ending of combo sequence and it sucks.

night time have lost its atmosphere. the pacing is not right. leveled mobs (even if you turn off the hud, it's easy to feel that you're overpowered, a lot). those crazy running zombies aren't as dangerous, they became a grind tool. yeah, lots of grind to upgrade blueprints. little to no interest to mod weapons differently, because 1lvl mod will suck anyways, so you just stick with the most upgraded mod you have (or grind for more options? thanks, not that hungry). the mere fact that you cannot repair the weapons couple of times makes you think of it like it's not really worth modding and wasting materials because it will be gone in half an hour. the mills is just some asassins creed cheap move.

screw the story, it's just about its game design. all the needed skills are unlocked in the first part of the game before the water tower. the parachute saves the next part a bit, just because of its novelty.

map isn't interesting, more of a copypaste. night dungeons like stores etc are almost identical too, not worth efforts and what's more important your time. and, once again, it's about the nighttime. it's not like run for your life anymore, it's like «time to grind!». trophies are like: «kickin' zombies asses is fun, do it more!» which is not the same as «if you can avoid the fight, then stay away, because it's reasonable» in DL1.

downtown's vertical level design does look fresh, but so far it's the only thing I truly like about DL2.

I cannot imagine what kind of wholechanging DLC it should be to make DL2 work. maybe if devs would listen to the community and don't be afraid to change the game drastically…

for starters, bring back volatiles on the streets, make nights scary, but meaningful (pst… looting shops don't motivate at all even on the last difficulty). this game needs more, much more various weapons upgrades, visually too – make them damn funny looking and different. upgrading by the grind? screw this! bring blueprints back! and, yeah, those buildings' insides… they definitely should be more various and unique. think about fallout's vaults. yeah, they're made of the same textures, but each vault is unique, has its own story, visual flavor. the story is just… well, you won't make it different anyway at this point. the first game was so emotional, but this is just the pokerface equivalent. the building explosion with those scary kids inside (you see them for the first time at that moment; bring them back too?), killing the girl at the end, seeing the deathtrip, those two brothers were funny, the villain, the pit fight. damn, I respect the company and their dedication, but DL2 has nothing good comparing with DL1, for real. you thought you understand why DL1 was good, but it seems like you didn't know why people loved it like at all. even the following DLC has more rights to be named DL2. how about bringing the car on the streets? you've failed parkour introducing paraglaider anyways. at least the car was fun.

upd after playing the reloaded edition:

well, devs don't add anything to the game worth replaying. just grind. maybe the hunter mode from the previous game would add something to the gameplay variability, but once again, why should I wait for a feature that initially was in the first game? or why should I wait for guns? they made weapons repairable, saying that they were really hesitant about it, but why – because they want you to grind even weapons. or grind loot to make them. the survivor missions are also about grind, they don't even have cutscenes or something. nothing actually meaningful. and, yeah, the story is still lame. it doesn't even compete with the «following» DLC. by the year five they'll make a following-like DLC with cars and will call it a (sale) day.

haven't played visual novels until this time. just passed the first bag of blood playing toreodor.

pros:
– nice visuals
– and music

cons:
– for now not that many lines for character you play; I guess, some options won't change much too and the others are obviously stupid and lead to a conflict/last death.
– some music (stranger/predator-looking guy) is too darn repetitive, short and has obvious start and ending; bothered a lot. hope I won't hear it again, but I guess I will
– would be great to see more visuals like in the scene where you drink the first girl dry as toreodor; more pics of characters in their different moods. damn, the game's production is already cheap due to its genre, just pay a little extra to your artists.
– also would be great to hear more stuff like starting an engine and closing a car's door. also won't cost you much, but it would be a lot better immerse-wise
– I'd like to hear at least introduction lines of the characters I met, voiced. I guess, there won't be 100 of them, so it's not that much work to do too.

for now I'm pretty much enjoying it, just because I like the WoD lore, but I'll left a negative mark so the devs may improve on their future WoD games.

addictive and stylish. these devs coudn't make it bad.

upd: highly recommend to listen to «Murder Of The Universe» album by King Gizzard & The Lizard Wizard.

please, make/release some kind of advanced level/trap creator for steam workshop and only then ditch the developing. otherwise, the game is awesome.

remedy games are just wow. first I was shocked by the design of «Control», then decided to check out their «Quantum Break». great cast, stunning visuals. cinema-like feels. last, but not least like the time travel setting.

Looks good, but boring. Playing a jedi seemed a lot funnier in Jedi Academy. NPCs are completely dumb, yeah.

It's decent. Music is just wow sometimes. I wish there were more different battle actions with kinda automatic class assignment like it was in Heroes 4. Got lots of melee defense and hp? Your bro gets status «tank» and according additional skills, etc. Or there could be some perks that available only if your character has needed stats.

plot twist: you think it's your character went to afterlife world, but actually it's you getting into micromanagement time-consuming hell. you both try to get back.

short comment: somehow it resembled me «Punch Club». it was so strange to figure out these two games were made by the same devs, even though the games are different obviously. maybe it's the pacing: you don't really know how far you get. you may think it's the end game part, but it's only the beginning. here it's totally okay to complete one of the first side seemingly easy quests after ≈ 20 hours of gameplay. do yourself a favor, watch netflix, read a book, play any other game which does make sense, has interesting storyline or something. If you want some management game, just go «RimWorld» or «Oxygen Not Included». This «game» just makes you BUSY being put in tight timings of endless routine events. Can't believe I actually paid money to lose ≈20 hours of my life.

NPCs behave unrealistic, running around, pretending to make tactical moves, but in close combat it quickly becomes a mess. Crashed at least 6 times in 6 hours of gameplay. Overall I liked Company of Heroes 2 a lot more, especially with that fog of war that obstacles created, allowing small groups of soldiers to hide. No such thing here.
