I am so dissapointed by this gane.

It looks gorgeous, but mechanically the other games in the series all have better pathfinding, ai, combat, and actual gameplay. It isn't terrible, but its shockingly a step back.

Unit abilities are far too tedious to use, and lean into APM focus that is an anathema to the HW franchise previously.

Additionally, the campaign is short and terribly written. Boring, lore breaking, and small in scope despite the massive scale. It makes no sense, and the characters are quite poorly written.

The campaign is, as mentioned, short, but most of it is actually spent *being cutscened to death.* So much of the campaign time is actually spent watching cutscenes that interrupt the game over and over and over to the point it will drive you nuts.

The issue with the gameplay and story is likely not one that can be fixed in patches down the road, meaning the game will forever exist in this not awful, but a sad (likely) end to a once veritable series.

One wonders if developers will ever learn.

While cool that is is updated, the new content doesn't add anything particularly good to the game, and, confusingly, the interface actually looks worse. If you can get the un-enhanced copy for cheaper, I would go with that, but if not, the original game's content is still amazing

The first act of Tyranny is amazing, and some of the most fun I've had with an RPG in ages. Sadly, the combat is as clunky as its cousin, Pillars of Eternity, and, more damningly the second act forward dramatically reduces the choices you have, to the point that it feels extremely railroady. It's a damn shame, as it really brings down an otherwise very fun game. I am not recommending it, but on the very, very, very barest of margins.

Sigh, where to start. I had extremely high hopes for this game, but was let down in every imaginable way by it.

The story is atrociously written, well below the quality of writing found in the better mods to the original game, and well below that of even fan action.

The story itself is very, very linear, with a lot of railroading incongruous to the original games' styles.

What's more, they also managed to break mod compatibility with most major mods, and somehow make the graphics and UI look WORSE than the original 16 year old games.

Combine that with a hefty helping of smug self righteousness and ramming of politics down peoples throats, and it makes for an overall bad mix.

There are plenty of LGBQ characters in games that people don't dislike. When you make a character that is completely at odds with the setting, and who exists ONLY to be a token character, that is both disrespectful and poorly done.

hopefully this will be the end of the beamdog license for BG, as they have mucked up every iteration of it thus far.

Additionally, shame on Beamdog for begging for positive reviews on their forums, it looks really really bad to do so, and shame on Steam for deleting a huge number of negative reviews, which is extremely ethically dubious to do.

This is specificall with regards to the new expansion, Siege of Dragonspear. The new content is extremely buggy, very poorly written, and with an extremely hamfisted and overt political agenda. Characters from the original games have been completely changed, and for the worse.

Whatsmore, in their effort to prove how LGBQT friendly they were, they added a token trans character who exists for no other reason than to be trans, giving, basically, the video game making equivalent of "see, I'm not racist, I know several black people."

In addition, once they had pissed off an enourmous cross section of their fans, they then took to their forums to beg for positive reviews, which is pretty bad form.

Apparently updates to the token character are in the works, as are bug fixes. I will give it another shot at that point, but given how linear the game is, and how poor the rest of the writing also is, I'm not holding out much hope.
