Early Access Review
I gave Path of Exile 2 an honest effort but it was highly unenjoyable to play. It's unnecessarily difficult, clunky, and unoptimized. As much as I have issues with Diablo 4, it makes Path of Exile 2 look like a college project. The developer is going to need to work extremely hard if it wants to turn this into anything worth playing.

Tactics Ogre is legendary, and this is a better version of the original. If you're into strategy games, then this is an easy recommendation. Though, I still consider Final Fantasy Tactics to be a much more compelling game, so consider playing that first.

Great game, but I did lose interest after a dozen hours. I imagine anyone invested in the Harry Potter universe will love this game.

This is one of the best free-to-play games out there. While unwelcoming due to a discombobulated mess of quests for the first few hours, the visuals and gameplay are extraordinary. Just be sure to bring a friend, because Destiny is lonesome when playing alone.

This is a great Star Wars game, but I can't recommend it at launch for reasons that severely impacted my experience. These include:

- Frame stuttering randomly during gameplay and cutscenes.
- Animation bugs and A.I. disengage logic destroying immersion.
- Poorly balanced difficulty.

If you're okay with all three of the above, then this game may be satisfying for you. It's graphics are some of the best I've seen, and the gameplay is well above average.

When PlayerUnknown's Battlegrounds entered Early Access a year ago, it was rich with potential. To me, it was the game I had been anticipating for more than half a decade, a survival game that actually had decent gunplay and a bearable user interface unlike early reinventors of the survival genre such as DayZ and H1Z1. Yet, as much as it won me over, a lot of what reeled me in what the promise of major improvements leading up to release.

Here we are a year later and virtually all of the major issues and inconsistencies of PlayerUnknown's Battlegrounds are still yere. You could even argue that some of them "feel" worse thanks to a birth of what I'd argue to be far more well put-together titles laying claim to the same space.

This is a game that should have seen dramatically more improvement over its post debut development lifecycle given the enormous amount of money and attention it has generated. Yet, the servers are still unreliable, the gunplay feels like it belongs in a free-to-play mobile game, and compared to nearly every other game with millions of players per month, it isn't appropriately supported with updates that make you want to come back for more.

It's not a bad game by any means, but with competitors popping up on a nearly weekly basis, and several on the imminent horizon that are backed by big money and talented development teams, I see no reason for PlayerUnknown's Battlegrounds to exist anywhere near the top most played multiplayer games once 2018 is over. As someone who likes to commit to a single game for a long time (i.e. World of Warcraft of Counter-Strike), this is cause for dismissal. I have no interest in ever playing this game again.

Save your money (and emotion) and get into one of the other competitors instead. You'll deal with fewer issues and be (likely) playing a game that isn't downtrending at an alarming rate.

I'm genuinely surprised by the "Very Positive" review average for this game. I played it in VR using the Oculus Rift and was bored to tears.

The problem is that this is a game that relies solely on atmosphere, given that nothing happens 99% of the time, and doesn't have the sense of presence that an experience like this requires. This kind of game can work, and incredibly well when put together in a compelling way. However, what's here is uninteresting and serves as a rare case of a game that makes you feel like you played longer than you actually did. A good game feels the opposite.
