"Into the Breach" is an amazing almost chess-like sci-fi puzzle game from the makers of the incredible "FTL: Faster Than Light" game. The premise of the game is awesome with an almost endless replay value. You start out as a mech pilot from an alternate timeline that has been sent to a timeline similar to yours that is in peril from the Vek aliens. You command a squad of three mechs, each with unique, upgradable, and swappable fighting technology. Your job is to protect the human structures on the grid from the Vek in 5 turns. Each mech is allowed one move and one attack before the enemy gets a turn. But wait! There can also be environmental effects and the Vek call in reinforcements each turn. If you survive, you work your way across the map of each island (four in total) before trying to beat the final mission where you have to survive 10 rounds before a cataclysmic bomb is deployed destroying the Vek.

If you fail, you get to choose one of your pilots and they will "rift walk" to the next timeline and try again while this timeline is destroyed and overran by the Vek. Even the classic "game over, try again" weaves a cool sci-fi tale of traveling through the rift to the next timeline.

I've so far beaten this game on Easy mode after hours of play and found that there are more mech squads you can unlock as you earn coins to purchase them.

If you like puzzle games, chess, strategy, and sci-fi, you'll be a fan of this one!
