Must have.

This is a brilliant combination of... hmm... Yoshi Cookie, Bit.Trip.Runner, and... <name your favourite JRPG grindfest>? The Yoshi Cookie reference is sound, and this is certainly a stat grinder, but perhaps there is a better analogy that Bit.Trip.Runner.

In any case, the core 'Yoshi Cookie' gameplay aesthetic is wonderfully integrated with the dungeon running / leveling system that will keep you saying "Just one more run... OK, just one more after this run. Just one more. Screw it, who needs sleep?". No regrets.

The game isn't long, perhaps, but it is such a sweet distillation of fun that you won't mind. In fact, you will probably just hit 'reset' and start from the beginning again, to try to beat it faster the second time through. Recommended for any RPG/Puzzle fusion fans. Quick reflexes a prerequisite.

This is a completely unique take on turn-based dungeon crawling RPGs. Very engaging and entirely manly.

1000 Amps is very reminiscent of VVVVVV. You are running around an open-ended structure, solving geometric puzzles in order to activate / save the system. There are no rules about the order of operation, just a bunch of rooms that you have to solve the navigation of to move forward.

In any case, lots of simple platforming fun and a great exploration / discovery dynamic. Recommended!

This is a fun mix of Tetris and tonematrix, for those of you familiar with that particular diversion. (http://lab.andre-michelle.com/crash/)

Simple interface, good clean fun. It's not a long game, or overly challenging, but it does make you feel like part of the music, and it's easy to drift off into a musical gaming haze with this little gem. Recommended for music + puzzle lovers.

This game is brutal. If you are willing to die a lot before you figure out how to get to the second floor, then you might be qualified to play this game. There is only one difficulty setting: Harsh.

In true Roguelike fashion, it's tough and requires a both luck and skill to suceed, but is subsequently quite satisfying when you actually accomplish something.

Conditionally recommended!

There is a bit of a learning curve up front, but this game is a gem once you get going. Along the lines of Starscape (which I've previously recommended), you are gradually exploring the galaxy using small ships deployed from a larger mothership. As you go, you will develop relationships with local civilian or military factions, fighting missions for them to gain experience and advance your research. Upgrade all aspects of your mothership and deployable crafts, and iteratively gain the ability to explore more of the galaxy.

Oh yes, and there's zombies, too. Good times.

This game is a simple, but highly entertaining diversion. Alternating between moments of madcap micromanagement and peaceful chill time, this game is both relaxing and engaging.

Couple that with an elegant aesthetic and refreshingly straightforward menu system, and this is a 5-star casual game, in my book.

In which Zombies are Smashed into Atoms.

This is not your typical zombie game, nor your typical atom smashing game. In fact, I'm not sure what genre to lump this under. It sits somewhere between Tower Defense and Real-time Strategy, with a dash of Survival Horror. In any case, it's a lot of fun and will have you stuck in cycles of 'one more level' for a long time.

A brilliant little Indie title. Simple premise (roll a ball from A to B), with lots of unexpected depth and challenge. A solid, casual game.

(Also a good deal at the moment, when purchased via the Indie Royale bundle...)
