Early Access Review
Before I write my actual review: It is not a bad game.

But I will list my reason why I am giving it a no below:

With the mining aspect it gives the VS-like genre a new USP. If a swarm becomes too much you can simply dig yourself a tunnel to escape. Other than that you will also find ore to buy upgrades between layers.
However, due to having to mine for upgrades and level up myself by defeating enemies I am constantly torn between "should I go boom boom enemies" or "should I rock and stone".
When you first load into the game you can already see which upgrades you can potentially buy after each game. For me this simply meant that if I collect minerals during the game I can then use them in that screen. I did not expect the minerals to be essential during each run itself as well, so I didn't mine any in my first.
Another aspect which feels wonky are the upgrades themselves. Besides that they are very basic now (eg. "do 10% more damage with this weapon) which I don't mind much it is hard to tell how impactful they are. Other than go for the rare or epic upgrade I don't see a reason to go for other upgrades besides damage, mining speed and reload speed.
Last but not least the weapon upgrade milestones you can unlock. I really like the idea of choosing upgrades for specific weapons which then can unlock special milestones on them depending on how many upgrades that weapon has. What I am missing is an overview which upgrades I already chose so I can better choose which milestone I want.
In general am I missing numbers in this game, I want to know how which upgrade affects which weapon or myself in what way. Currently it's missing that bit of structure for me.

For an early access game it nailed the basics of what an VS-like is, and I'll gladly update this review when it gets polished some more. :)

My recommendation after playing 5 hours:

+ It reminds me of Thrillville with its extrodinary rollercoaster parts and rides.
+ I like the gameplay loop of building excitement and using that to upgrade your existing rides to become more spectectular!
+ I actually enjoy the limited customisation. I felt overwhelmed when it came to this in Planet Coaster.
+ The maps in the campaign are fun to use for rollercoasters due to their unique layouts and little bits and pieces.

- It crashed twice on me so far, I play on Ultra with good specs.
- It's not polished as far as it should. Examples: Hair clips through hats, paths clip through the ground, some visitors can walk into the air when you edit the path. I encountered some more issues like this.
- You cannot edit a path to change the colour / rails after having placed them.
- You cannot see how "full" your park is to avoid building too many attractions.
- You are not told that you need to fulfill team goals to get 3 stars in the 3rd campaign and no team goals are generated after finishing the campaign in that level. This means you'll have to fully replay the campaign which is tedious.
- Lots of times I had to micromanage things like food stalls, drinks and attractions due to the shift of where people would go after building a new attraction or due to certain events.

Overall opinion:
So far I really enjoy the game despite its flaws. I am a fan in general when it comes to games like this, and the core gameplay loop is fun to use to upgrade not only attractions but staff and stalls too. I am sure that many of the issues I have described will be fixed eventually, I am hopeful.

I will update this review from time to time while I accumulate hours. :)

The game is really nice to play if you got a few hours. It can be a bit confusing here and there and doesn't become more difficult until mid- to late game. Unfortunately there is not much to do at some point. But it's worth its money, definitely.
I recommend playing with mods once you are comfortable with the vanilla version. :)

Why would you play this game?

Creativerse is a multiplayer sandbox game, which in itself is nothing new.
However, as you progress in the game, you unlock certain items of a higher tier
and - in turn - will help you to gather better quality material and new tools.

The players in this game are all in all very friendly and helpful. While I knew nothing
about Creativerse in the beginning, a few friendly fellows explained to me the basics
and what I can do (thanks again! ;)).

A few functions I dearly miss in other good sandbox games are included in this one:

  • Taming monsters
  • Blueprints
  • Crafting Teleports (without installing plugins and such)

And more...

Sadly, while playing the game, a few minor bugs appeared:

- when teleporting back to base, the surrounding doesn't load sometimes (invisible blocks)
- (only with the bought Pro version) the glider glitches while flying slightly upwards with boost
- while building a blueprint, the place where the firepits need to be have a graphic bug with the smoke

But all in all with Creativerse being an early access game: TOP! :)

It is slightly annoying, that the quests somehow repeat themselfes, but all in all I can just say: I love it!
