Need for Speed Unbound had a difficult time with fans well before it's release. Not because it is only released for PC and current gen consoles. Not because it costs a whopping 80 Dollars. And not because it doesn't have Toyota, one of the largest car manufacturers in the world, in its fleet. No, but because it tries something new visually! What an absolute disgrace! Everyone knows that arcade racing and exaggerated graphic effects don't mix at all! But all jokes aside. Some people thought it was great that the developers were orienting themselves more towards underground street art with a graffiti look. The others hated anything with anime wings, hand drawn clouds of smoke and other effects. I, too, was initially skeptical as to whether developer Criterion Games new design concept would work. But now I can say with confidence: Hey, it's not that bad! It takes some getting used to, but at some point I actually started to like the in-game effects. They give the game more style, more flair. That's why I never had the desire to turn off the effects in the menu which is always an option, at least in your own car. So in conclusion, I can say that Need for Speed Unbound is definitely a solid game. Of course, it isn't perfect, but I personally really enjoyed playing it :)
