Setting the atmosphere.

People who actually enjoy video games read reviews to get a basic understanding of what they're about to purchase; Most are good at getting relevant information, and translating it to something useful. This is important as prices increase and games get objectively worse, features long forgotten from decades past. I'll spend little time on the actual gameplay as it's overshadowed by company practice.

To the best of my inability to get a point forward:

I wrote the original review as a low effort frustration post to lousily portray what I was seeing. Injection of cosmetics is not a new thing for the younger kids, to actual people who actually want to, or enjoy games it's total garbage. Those who have a functional brain cell know the defending of this practice is 1:1 with hitting your hand with a hammer. The person who grew up with hitting their hand with a hammer defends this, as it's "all they know", but this also isn't true. People remember, have played, been apart of, or enjoyed better games with similar structure so as the concept of 'hit hand' is not normal.

But this is a multiplayer cooperative team game, why do I care? Because it's a MP COOP team game where the only 'progression' is the match itself. Classic Red Orchestra, deathmatch anything, pick a game made a few decades ago example chosen let's go. The fun was playing the game because the game was fun, the mod from the decent game this spiritual successor was based on was fun. Now creep in some updates that add paid for, COMPLETELY irrelevant player actions. Does the older, and some new, player care? Of course not, we're not completely braindead (yet).

So who is the target of cosmetics other than hit hand hammer guy? Not actual human beings who enjoy the thing with no pain. Nobody sees this ♥♥♥♥ other than the self justifying, we just want to play a good game. Maps, factions, fixes and features are, in what I can see as a player, put on the backburner as reposition of the company has happened. This is 'an effort' to fix the lack of focus on the aforementioned things that keep the target player base engaged, growing, talking about your game to get more people buying that game.

When you're done alienating your core player base,

your only remaining friends are hammer kid. Kids who think the super controversial Infantry Combat Overhaul is good. Red Orchestra: Ostfront 41-45 was released on March 14th, 2006. We've played games since and before that do FPS free aim so comically better that:

I don't think Offworld cared about their spiritual successor from the start.

Few things from the past (Project Reality) and post (Not that old, or haven't played) community have been addressed. The band-aid for ignoring people who care, would have cared, or could have cared was paid for animations that don't flow into the game in any way shape or form. A professional would give examples but they're gone to the ether regardless. There's an example how we feel. Push up grunting funny is who they picked even before China stuck their extra cancer into your wallet.

If you like paying for arbitrary cosmetics, buy this it's for you. If you've played better games from decades ago then this ain't it, this type of niche has been dead for almost as long.

Also my founder skins still don't work and the band/patches now also don't work.

Old Review Portion=
[It used to be my founder skins didn't work at all for the majority of the game's lifespan; but now I'm excited to see the leadership of the CPC's economic branch will keep those backer incentives from being expanded forever. It's only history for a Canadian game developer to jump responsibility, in this case financial, like a war-time draft. Factions like the PLA are cool, but not in real life, and faction asymmetrical gameplay here cannot even hold the smallest of gutter oil fire flames to what modders have been doing for decades on objectively worse engines at the cost of their free time. Fancy VFX/SFX cannot hide a game that has progressed marginally from pre-alpha, but we'll soon be able to LARP as CAF soldiers in Manhua cosplay flossing in a gold skin HAB.]
