I originally started using GameMaker when it was at version 4.1 back in 2002; it was my first foray into game development and it was pretty awesome. Now, with GameMaker Studio, there have been many improvements to GameMaker's performance and features.

If you are new to Game Development then GameMaker Studio is an excellent platform to start learning how to make games. It allows you to put together a game reasonably quickly only using its drag and drop interface. And with its easy to pick up scripting language, GML, it can help you learn a lot about programming and allow you to make some really great games, with a little work.

GameMaker Studio is primarily geared toward 2D Game Development, and is limited in some ways technically, however 2D Development is much easier to work with than 3D and is the best place to start for new learners.

I highly recommend this software for anyone just starting to learn Game Development, or for a more experienced user looking to create a 2D Game or Prototype in little time.

Review in Progress: This review will be updated as I progress through the game.

Venetica is an enjoyable RPG that is flawed by a lack of polish and some technical issues, but is worth checking out due to some unique gameplay elements and an interesting world.

The story of Venetica is reasonably unique (especially since it is told from the perspective of a heroine). The story and world is fully voiced, and although the dialogue (especially the choices you are given) is a bit "off" at times, overall it suits the world of Venetica.

The gameplay in Venetica consists of exploration, combat, and occasional puzzles. The combat in Venetica isn't bad; but it is held back by a horrible camera, especially since much of the combat consists of dodging enemy attacks. The puzzles scattered throughout the game are reasonably simple but contribute to the game's diversity and help keep the overall adventure engaging.

The game's presentation is done reasonably well, although there seems to be some optimization and frame rate issues with my more than capable PC. The world looks good and is packed with objects, but it has a lot of small areas and tight locations that are made even worse by the poor camera.

Overall the game is definitely worth checking out (especially at its low price). If you are a fan of Action RPG's and don't mind a few technical issues, pick this one up.

+ Detailed World
+ Unique Story
+ Gameplay Diversity

- Bad Camera
- Occasionally Strange Dialogue

Overall So Far: 7/10

An awesome fast paced action platformer that requires lightning fast reflexes and exact timing. An incredibly fun game in which levels can take mere seconds to simply pass or near hours to master with a 3 star rating. The action is quick and the controls are tight. The game also treats you to amusing cutscenes after beating each world. If you are looking for some fun and fast paced precision platforming action, then pick up a copy of this game.

An awesome, must have, action puzzler. With memorable characters and a great atmosphere, Portal 2 combines a great humorous narrative with excellent gameplay. It also provides a lot of replayability with its excellent Multiplayer mode as well as new levels via the Workshop.
