BBTAG is absolutely all kinds of jank and it's a silly game for it. It's a game that's easy to pick up but has a surprising amount of depth once you truly get good at the game thanks to it's unique partner system, Certain characters that would be absolutely awful on their own become genuinely scary high-level threats if you have the mettle to keep both of your characters alive. Despite my experience entering tournaments as a mid-level player and pretty often getting dusted by some dude who managed to get a single neutral win and effectively won the game off of it, I still have buttloads of fun just playing the game casually with my friends of similar skill levels. Certain characters definitely feel overwhelming and the top tiers do have a lot of polarizing matchups but almost every team composition in this game has bullsh*t if you're willing to lab it out--granted you might be working significantly harder for it than the popular teams,

You will want the DLC though, so if you can grab the special edition of the game, absolutely do so, as the base roster for a crossover fighter is surprisingly lacking, with BlazBlue obviously getting the bulk of the character slots while P4A, UNI, and RWBY are each given only 4 characters.

The game does have problems, and certain design decisions are either unintuitive or actually make no sense (air backdash effectively being a giant, glowing neon "PLEASE HIT ME" sign is just one of a few) but despite the flaws, the game is still fun to play, and a really great time to goof off with, regardless of skill level. Just look up the end of the deciding game of grand finals of Vortex Gallery 2022, a Ceritifed BBTAG® Moment™. Even at top level this game is still goofy as hell, and I love it for it.
