I'm looking for a fast-paced shooter where gunplay and movement feels natural. This isn't it. Strafing is weird and slow, ADS is required for every weapon and hit-registration feels of. I absolutely loved those things in Dirty Bomb and on top of that Dirty Bomb had some really nice objective based maps where one team was attacking and one defending, resulting in an overall more dynamic gameplay.

From the videos it looked like Shatterline could fill the void that Dirty Bomb left, it's a shame it completely disappoints in the most important aspects (gunplay and movement).

This is just a wonderful game. Extremely relaxing and a wonderful experience overall.

This game doesn't have a goal and doesn't really offer much gameplay.

You're just an animal with some emotes and you can collect "Essence". With Essence you automatically unlock other animals, skins and emotes.. and that's it.

Though to destroy those large rocks with much Essence in them, you gotta find some random other players and work with them together to open them.

I've never played a game before, where I was welcomed that much in the community and was able to say so much with just so little available. Met some heartwarming people I couldn't even talk with, but we understood each other.

I've also never played a game before, where I actively wanted to explore the world, just for the sake of finding things and running around together in a group. Wonderful experience.

Over-the-top-Borderlands Humor!

Early Access Review
As almost any negative review is only negative because of the matchmaking (and the person who wrote that review dying constantly), I'm gonna say a little things about that:

They've fixed the matchmaking and even improved it several times. There was just one problem everybody ignored:
Back in Closed Beta the matchmaking could not function properly, as there were not enough players to filter from!

But now in Open Beta you can finally see how the matchmaking works. Everytime I play in a party with several other people, we get split up, because the enemy team would lose directly. Also, the more "good" people I have in my party, the longer it takes now to find a match, so the matchmaking is really working in the background.

Now my review about this game:
It's wonderful!
It's quite competitive, so it happens that you lose against people you are playing against, but the most important thing to note is that even though this game is f2p, it is definetly not p2w.
In this game it's not so much about your weapons or skills, as the basic skills can be damn good, if used correctly.
It's mainly about having a good teamplay, and voicechat is not that much required for that.

Also what I experienced as well, while I introduced some friends of mine to this game, while I was already playing with highlevel players:
You get better over time!

This game has no major flaws, it's just not as casual as people would expect it to be on the normal TDM server.
While in other games as soon as you leave the "Beginner"-area you lose against p2w players, in this game you are challenged by players, whose only advantage is that they've played more hours in this game than you.

Have fun!

I preordered it in mid 2013, didn't know what to expect back then.
5 days before the Early Access started I got access to the pre-alpha, at this time there were only around 5 players online at most and the servers seemed to be restarting every 10 minutes. Loot was rare and npcs were bugged, so I just though ♥♥♥♥ it, this game is unplayable, I'll look at it later on. Then when the game got released, I didn't really notice it, but tried it again a few days after to see it actually working.
I saw a lot of players, loot, but I had these aweful performance issues.
A few patches later (Patch #5) the performance issues got better, loot became more common and the game ran more stable than before. Now the thing: in Patch #6 they fixed a lot of physics problems, which caused my game to have a bad performance again, but installing the latest AMD Catalyst Beta drivers fixed that for me.

So right now, the game is working stable (except the server restarts/crashes, which happen quite often).
Loot is common and the fighting works smooth.

There are 3 things though, that the developers have to work on to give this game a bigger replayability factor:

1. Weapons. Right now the only firearm is the G18, so once you've got that, all you can do is hunt other players, for no reason at all. This game needs more firearms which are also more rare, so the players continue to have a goal (collecting more/better weapons, eg. WarZ did this aspect quite well)

2. LootSpawns: The spawnrate right now is too high in my opinion. It takes me approx. 15 minutes to be full equipped (G18 + Hatched) and then the only thing I can do is hunt other players. Every house is full of food right now, and it respawns way too fast. Back in pre-alpha I had to scavenge 3 hours in order to find one piece of clothing or food.
The devs should find a better balance between these 2 stages.

3. NPCs: In this game are no zombies.
There are mutants, which are stronger than zombies. Sounds good, I like that idea.
But the thing is: In my 30 hours of playtime (pre-alpha + alpha), I encountered 3 Mutants and 1 of them was bugged in pre-alpha (I hit it and it disappeared). Currently they're working well but are very difficult to fight against using melee weapons. The devs should lower the difficulty of them just a bit (still having them stronger than simple zombies), but increase the spawnrate of them a lot. Right now the only actual threat are G18 players, as the mutants are too rare to encounter on a regular basis. You see them once a day at most.. and that is somewhere near houses in the wilderness.

Incredible Game.
I can recommend it to everybody who's not a fan of all these AAA-Shooters.
For everybody, who can't afford this, I will be making Let's Plays, so everyone can get a piece of this awesome game.
