This is a game that couldn't possibly live up to the hype that the marketing team at CDPR generated, but even with that in mind it doesn't meet tempered expectations. Cyberpunk 2077 is a jumbled mess that falls way short of meeting the quality and level of detail found in the games that clearly inspired it.

Everything about this game is half-baked. Where is the character customization in a future where people can express themselves in ways beyond what is currently humanly possible? Why do the police show up behind me after committing a crime for which there are no witnesses? Where are the branching possibilities that stem from different choices I can make? Where are the faction relationships that could be built while I do odd jobs for all kinds of different groups? Such questions only scratch the surface on Cyberpunk's shortcomings, without even addressing the plethora of technical issues one might encounter consistently throughout.

The care and thoughtfulness of CDPR's past games is completely absent, and the game reeks of cut corners at every turn. I spent a lot of time playing this game to see if I missed something but if it were any other developer I would never give this the time of day. Maybe if they had another decade, Cyberpunk 2077 could be worth recommending. Until then, go play Deus Ex: Human Revolution or Fallout: New Vegas.
