Relaxing way to learn some basic vocab by exploring a beautifully crafted world that, while admittedly small, is chock-full of detail and charm.

Runs on Deck, and you can pet the dog/cats.

There's a dedicated "Quack" button. Nuff said.

I still have yet to play another game quite like it.
It's a game about life. It's short, but tells a very touching story.

Take an afternoon or evening to play through it. You won't regret it.

Update (2019-12-01):
One thing has been made very clear over the years.
Hello Games cares.

Base Building, Exocrafts, Freighters, new story lines, economies, new biomes, terrain modification, multiplayer, character customisation, VR support, multiple graphical updates, and countless other features and improvements.

To implement all of those features after the rocky launch that No Man's Sky had. Kudos to them for sticking with it and proving all the naysayers wrong. It's a hell of an achievement for such a small team.

Original Review (2016-11-26):
Sometimes you just want to get lost in another world, discover some little bits and pieces of story/lore, and look at fantastical environments and sunsets. If that's what you're looking for in a game, then you'll probably enjoy this.

I knew what to expect when I bought this, and knew what exactly it wasn't going to be. I was okay with that.

While I don't agree with how it was portrayed and marketed, I don't think the developers deserve as much hate as they are getting. I don't think anyone does. In the end, they made a game, and I enjoyed it.

Is it the world's best game? No. It has some very obvious flaws.
Is it the world's worst game? I don't believe so, but then that's subjective.

A narrative driven visual novel with interesting characters and an amazing soundtrack. You'll instantly get sucked in, and end up wanting more.

As others have said, a sequel of any kind would be an instant buy from me.

I actually wish I had paid more than the pre-order price for it. It's worth every penny.

Original Review: You can stay up all night making one tiny part of your park perfect, and it'll be worth it. Just try not to fall asleep at work the next day.

The only negative is that it's not really challenging. Once you become profitable it's just easy money. Ride breakdowns, unhappy staff, etc, need to have greater consequences.

Update: There's still no real challenge. If you're okay with just building pretty parks to post on Reddit, then enjoy.

Frontier's affinity for micro-transactions has also put a bad taste in my mouth. I would much rather have larger Expansions, than tiny DLC packs. But Frontier just loves to nickel and dime you.

Lastly, I had hoped that we'd at least get a small free Halloween pack, since the Christmas one closer to launch was free. But nope. $16 (CAD) for 2 dark rides, a handfull of scenery, and a reskinned building set. Oh, don't forget the single Entertainer.

Great story with some amazing visuals. Most of the decisions you'll have to make are pretty balanced. There are no obvious right or wrong choices. As you progress through the story, you'll begin to wonder if you made the right choices.
