Best in the line so far. Bear in mind, this game, more than previous ones, is HEAVILY dependent on your rig. So be careful, and check your specs, and make sure you are making at least the recommended specs or at this moment you will suffer. Moving past that, if you are a Dark Souls/Blood Borne fan, this is very much the same bread and butter, the family winning recipe that we have all grown to love and enjoy but with some new addons.

Some new notable stuff:
Magic upgrade, you start off with two spells, both of which are usefull and offer different ways of playing.
Magical horse that allows unqiue combat and mobility.
Open world, similar to BOTW or older Legend of Zelda games, you can head straight for the end, and you will die...painfully, but also means you could fall off the beaten path and into an area you don't need to be in.
Jumping has been improved and hit boxes so jump attacks and jumping to dodge is viable now.
Spirit animals for users.
Crafting, but it is simiplifed and mainally used for small items to craft and the ability to summon players to help you.
Summoning pools allow you to get help from players that normally wouldn't help in a particular dungeon and allows you as the player to spice it up with a random selection of areas to help players.

My biggest issue so far, mind you, I haven't beaten the game yet, but the lore is very very similar to Dark Souls, so unsure what George RR added. You have the rift between reagular humans and demi-gods, this gods look down on humans for their corruption but then kill and fight each other for power just like Dark Souls. These demi-gods fall under one ruller that united them, and gave them their own powers in so and areas. The madiens are similar to the fire keepers and they help the user with their internal power and give lore about grace, aka the bondfire, aka, the flame from DS. Still neat but advertisements are a big stretch on the role Martin had.

Overall I recommend, if you are worried, then wait a few weeks, some of the patches are seeming to help issues with hardware related stuggles, and I suspect that will happen more and more down the road.
