Early Access Review
I was a hater of the reveal. Tried the closed alpha and thought it sucked. Now its very enjoyable and reignited my love for the game. Would recommend.

More expansive than the previous game but just as good. Same great aesthetic and gameplay.

If you liked Doom '16 you'll like this game. They added a lot more stuff that, imo, is unnecessary but after the first level or two when you get a feel for everything the game gets really fun. At its core its still fast-paced demon murder and who doesn't love that.

This game is much harder than doom '16 and there are some difficulty spikes but the game gives you all the tools you need and finishing complicated sections is very satisfying.

Finally, the soundtrack by itself would carry the game even if the game was bad - which it's not, it's great. If you like shooters, buy this game.

This game is really, really fun playing with a buddy. The in-game voice sucks so you need a third party system like discord, but the rest of the game is awesome. Some of the puzzles are a bit frustrating at first but nothing is super hard and you'll feel smart for finishing them. The game has an eerie atmosphere but there are no jump scares. Overall, I'd have paid money for it.

You dash around the battlefield and murder things with a katana like a ninja.

Early Access Review
DISCLAIMER: Game is still early access at the time of this review - approximately 3 months into its EA period.

That said, this game has taken over my life. The only reason I ever made a Steam account years ago was to play the DayZ Arma mod and was then really excited for (and unfortunately bought) the stand alone (which is still in in Alpha btw). What I'm saying is, these massive survival-esque/battle royale games are very high on my list of preferences. This game is by far the best one I've yet to play.

Pros:

- Graphics: Game is really pretty on ultra settings if your rig can push it - that said, it's not very well optimized yet. But still, the game is gorgeous. I die very frequently because I refuse to turn down my settings to gain a tactical advantage.

- Fun: It's fun as balls. I've never had so many heart-pounding moments in a game in my life. At the time of this review I have approximately 90 hours in the game and I've only won once, but every single match is just a blast.

- Developers: The devs on this game are doing everything right. There are frequent patches (I believe weekly) that actully implement positive changes into the game. PlayerUknown, the lead dev who essentially created the battle royale video game genre, is a godsend.

-Game Modes: Game offers players the ability to play solo, duos, or in squads with up to 3 other players, letting you chooose how friendly you want to be with people.

CONS:

EA: This is an early access game and as such there are a myriad of bugs still present. But this is pretty easily over looked I think since the devs are very clearly working hard on ironing them out, and honestly most of the bugs in the game (aside from the rare occasions the game just crashes) are pretty entertaining. Definitely not enough of a drawback to make me regret buying the game.

Optimization: It's just not there yet. My rig is pretty beefy and I have had almost zero issues with the game, but there is occasionally some FPS drops and server lag that can get annoying but I haven't experienced much of that. I just wanted to throw it in here because I have heard stories of other people with issues.

I will say this: an SSD in this game is VITAL. Otherwise, buildings dont render in quickly, correctly or at all. This game is also pretty CPU intensive so just keep that in mind as well.

Cheaters: This one isn't too bad from my experience, but I know that in solos especially, you may come across "teamers," or multiple people who queue up together to play in ragtag alliances. Whatever your feelings towards that personally it is against the rules according to Bluehole (the devs) and is a bannable offense. I haven't personally come across it as far as I know but I've seen many videos.

Recap:

This game is the most fun you'll ever have with your clothes on, possibly the most fun you'll ever have period. Buy it if you like battle royale games. You won't regret it.
