As someone who wasn't as fond of World coming from the older games the issues here are even worse. With each new entry they feel the need to add some new gimmick like wounds, wirebugs, clutchclaw, all which disrupt the identity of these really cool unique weapons we have already and homogenize them. Additions like these detract from the experience for me. Speaking of detractions, they also seem to want to sand off any amount of friction that the player feels. Why do I bother packing hot or cold drinks when there is a free bug on the wall that fills that purpose? By the time the buff wears off the hunt is over anyway. Friction is not a bad thing for players to experience when intentional. It adds to the sense of accomplishment and reward the player feels when they took the time to plan for the hunt. Instead of this friction, they replaced it with annoying 'on rails' story sections where you can't gather the things that are showing up on your HUD as you pass them.
