Gold.
Character development and plot: 10/10. Fully immersed and attached to the story.
The entire plot also seamlessly fits into the Borderlands universe perfectly.
My only gripes are that Fiona is nowhere to be seen after this game, and that the sequel to this game is.... cringe worthy at best.

The game is really fun, and brings back split-screen gaming to relevance. The plot and characters are superbly written.

Why did I knock off 3 points? The length and price of the game.
It took my roommate and I about 5 hours to actually beat the game. That's essentially $6 for every hour of gameplay we had.

What happened to this game?
The game did not turn out to be anything it was supposed to be in its initial announcement.
Bugs. Bugs everywhere. The game is almost unplayable thanks to bugs.
But let's but those two things aside for a second and focus on gameplay - the most important part of any game.
Uuuuuhhhhhh what happened? The pills don't really have any serious part in the gameplay, and I think this game could not tell whether they wanted to actually include combat in this game or not. Stealth does not really work, and the "open world" just feels like they made an open world for the sake of stating this is an open world.
The one and only positive about this game that I will give it credit for is its plot. In-game dialogue aside, the story for each character was just gut wrenching to experience, and this takes some quality writing to accomplish. The lore of the world is also really interesting, while its parallels to the real world and the philosophical questions it raises are almost as interesting as any novel you'd expect to analyze in a literature class in College.

The game started off terribly, got better, then got awful again.
Balance in this game is okay. It's not the best, but it's not the worst (Riot Games can never be topped). Please figure out what to do with spawn killers. Either support it or don't. Make up your mind.
Cheating in this game is off the charts, and I don't really see the devs putting in enough of an effort to address this. If you can't figure something out in-house, just pay up for a higher tier Battle Eye system or something. You should have enough money after taking money every year with passes and skins.
New operators are also starting to get ridiculous. Whatever happened to modern and semi-tactical shooting the game was known for? Now it's starting to become a weird sci-fi shooter.

The portal gameplay was interesting, I'll give it that.
The graphics are um... pretty awful.
Let's be honest, the overall design was a rip off of Halo and Portal.
The player community is also unbelievably toxic in this game. Yikes.

Drains the life out of you. Oh, also it's filled with 12 year old kids screaming the N word.

Such a shame that the devs sold the game off. I had fun running around with Paul's Goat Hoofs.
