tl;dr: if you're welcome to trying something new, and want a well needed breather in-between the intensity of witch queen and the intensity of the final shape, get this expansion.

do not expect witch queen when getting this expansion. it is a set-up for the final shape, and should be treated as such. people have complained about pricing for years, who cares. this expansion was always marketed as an 80s action and I'm tired of everyone acting like this was supposed to be something dark and serious when it would take away from the final shape. now, into my actual review.

while this story is a strong tonal shift, it's a needed break between what will definitely be our harshest story yet and the intensity of witch queen, with an absolutely gorgeous setting and cast to boot. the characters are swift to endear and the lore in-between the lines of this expansion is entrancing. definitely a breath of fresh air characterization wise and a sign that destiny 2 is going into a new, long-awaited age. probably one of my favourite expansions so far. strand is fast-paced and smooth to play with when given the freedom to, and the seasons to come are most definitely setting up for our next expansion. bungie doesn't always get things right, but they knew exactly what they were doing with the story, and the love put into it shows.

equally as compelling as it is hair-raisingly tense and unnerving. this is what cosmic horror should feel like. its visuals do its medium justice, and the story is unforgettable. they don't make horror games like this anymore.

if you want a game to figure out your gender identity to, this is definitely a game to do that with.

I would say space ninjas if your definition of ninja was mgr raiden. cool game :)
