At this point in time, they have the resources to add more DLCs but don't want to compress textures enough to make the game run properly. Loading times are still atrocious, and the game still is an FPS hog.

This developer can't even optimize their games to save their lives.

For it's price, It's definitely packed. It's got decent animations, has voice acting, decent graphical fidelity, and decent AI. The fact that the developers are still adding to it is great. It's a very decent game, but with so many bugs (random clipping issues, visual artifacts, "time returning" stutters, etc.).

But these developers can't even debug their games to save themselves. They are great with supporting their games long term, a lot better than the current trend of the trash AAA developers nowadays.

If this was priced more and had some trash, overpriced DLCs, I wouldn't recommend it. But while the developers lack the skillset, I do think they are a decent bunch since they didn't overprice this game and are still supporting it.

Ultimately, the game is playable, but it could be that I've thus far been lucky enough not to encounter game-breaking bugs. If you're worried, buy it on sale. If you think the developers deserve full price for good habits (with lack of skills), then you're not really losing anything here.

TL;DR: Good animations, Nice gunplay, Decent graphics, has somewhat decent voice-acting, good amount of content for what it has, but alot of bugs. Still recommend for being priced fairly compared to the 70 USD sorry excuse for AAA games bigger companies release nowadays.

I dream of the day that AAA games nowadays offered as much content as this game, much like in the past.
I dream of the day that indie devs selling their game at the same price point packed as much content as this game did.
I dream of the day that indie devs selling their game at the same price point finished their game and not stay in EA access to have an eternal excuse for bugs and lazy design.

I dream of the day that games are great again.

UPDATE: I do NOT recommend the game. The direction the devs are taking is extremely dumb.

> Releasing seasonal content on an EARLY ACCESS GAME.
> Uses time and resource for said seasonal content instead of permanent content WHEN THEY ARE AN INDIE DEV TEAM AND CANNOT AFFORD THE EXTRA TIME SPENT.
> Releasing far more seasonal content than a permanent content (Check the roadmap)
> Price increase because they added very minimal, expected QoLs on top of promised content.

This is not a live service game, and this is also not a finished game, but to push FOMO, they are releasing seasonal content instead of first finishing the game THEN releasing seasonal content. This is a bad precursor for what's to come.

Wish I could refund.

They are abandoning this mess of a game when balance is still all over the place and there are still game-breaking and a ton of other bugs present.

Do NOT buy. If you want to do so, buy it on a very large sale, like 90% off. at 75% off, the game's about 20% cheaper than a full-priced World War Z, but World War Z has more cosmetics, STILL being worked on, and has more chapters. At the very least, the developers deserve your money, but the executives absolutely don't.

P.S. Do NOT buy their next game. They've done this twice now.

Amazing roguelike. It plays a little differently than other roguelikes where you're expected to take a companion with you, but this works awesomely because everything is just much more action-packed that way. The amount of effort given to flesh out audio as well makes everything much more dynamic, immersive, and exciting. While other roguelikes just put music on their game, it feels very stale in large contrast to this game.

Here's hoping that in the future, there can be more interactables and mechanics in the world implemented to spice up gameplay even further. Maybe even dynamic quests!

Definitely recommended if you're looking for a more combat-focused roguelike.

Great game. Fights are not as engaging as in FO4 since this is a much older game, but the dialogue and story is much more engaging.

Google Viva New Vegas for a modpack that improves the game drastically whilst remaining as vanilla as possible for a much smoother playthrough, especially if it's your first time.

These devs seem to think that a development cycle similar to Cataclysm: DDA is ok because it's heavily inspired by it. They seem to think being in Early Access for 9 years with development priorities all over the place is ok.

If you don't believe me, look at what they're working on: Animals, instead of one of the core things that should be a majour leap in the game's completion which is NPCs.

Fanbois will argue that "it's nOt eASy to dEVelOP NpCS", yet there's 2 mods that functions properly where said NPCs roam around the map, try to fight zombies properly, retreat, loot, and some others.

These devs seem to think it's ok to follow a free, open-source game's development cycle when their game is not free at all. Even Cataclysm: DDA's development is far, FAR faster and more organized than this thesis university project. And that game is open-source development, meaning multiple, non-paid, non-grouped people chip in together.

Do NOT buy this game. It's been 9 years and it's not even halfway done.

As an EA title, the game plays well enough, with lots of content to play through. If you're expecting Battle Brothers in 3D, prepare to be disappointed though, because this game is much less immersive. The sound effects, the "still" (although beautiful" NPCs are great, but the ambience is dry with very unnoticeable music and sound effects that make it very boring.

Battle Brothers was engaging enough even though it was 2D. It was hectic, it was immersive, the sound and music score was great. Every swing, albeit minimally animated, every groan was impactful enough. This game has absolutely 0 of those.

If you can look past those though, and play with an expectation of a very much less tactical and less immmersive and engaging battle brothers, you'll enjoy this game.

I would like to rate this as a neutral, but then the fact that the game is close to being finished whilst sporting a very dry atmosphere and lackluster sound/music, pretty much means it's no longer going to improve, aside from optimization and more content, so I'll lean more on the Not Recommended side.

After 8 years in development, the game has basic QoL, and balance features still inexistent. There's numerous games out there that are also in indefinite development limbo, but are way more polished. One example is Cogmind, or 7 Days to Die. Both cost almost the same as this game, save a few more dollars more, but is surprisingly much more polished. An excuse of "this is a niche game" is not going to be acceptable either, because Cogmind is a much more niche game.

These devs are just passive-aggressive elitists who are lazy.
