Gamedesign is absolutely amazing in this one. The game is really funny, inventive, cute and has so much soul. I especially loved the secret puzzles. Challenges are tight but nothing that can't be solved with proper cooperation, although the luck is sometimes the factor.

However, it is plagued by multitude of bugs, some related to finnicky Unity's collision engine, with boxes or kiwis getting stuck or not being able to place or pick up stuff. But the most annoying ones by far - at times not properly syncing the messages that the players have to type in or compose which makes certain levels unbeatable unitl restarted. These are not an issue in local multiplayer though.

You log in the evening to tweak a couple of conveyors at your factory and then it is suddenly 5 a.m.

On a more serious note, there is so much done-right with this game. Alternative recipes, complex end-game production chains, exploration of the non-procedural world (which is actually gorgeous).
My main personal issue would be lack combat complexity.

*I would rather recommend this game if the achievements were not bugged, hence unobtainable.
Vibes are great, controls are responsive and fun to learn, the raccoon is cute as heck. The only offenders were the crabs which are introduced in the final chapter of the game, mechanics as such don't tend to work well with random level generation. I have met a couple of bugs with ramps, but those are extremely rare.

It is really sad I had to give the "Labor of Love" award to the game that barely updates annually. However, updates for other games just suck while Gloomrot was actually decent.

Fun puzzle game with an inventive movement system that utilizes its mechanics competently (especially in "pro" challenges). It is short enough to not overdo/overuse them. Even unity's garbage physics engine can't ruin the mood :)
Notes:
Steam achievements are considerably easier than in-game "medals".
Co-op playthrough is strongly recommended: although single player course contains its own puzzles, those are generally inferior to their co-op counterparts.

So... Very positive? No. This game is complete and utter garbage, incompetent and outdated.

Indirect navigation with rough directions instead of maps+markers is a neat idea, executed poorly. Sextant, instead of being a fun instrument to operate (have you ever used a real one?) is rather "do some annoying menuing and click, repeat with map item and compass item". Meh.
Speaking of menus. Garbage. UI looks like it was designed by a 5th grader. No certain visual coherence, and arpg-style colourful backgrounds for higher grade items look awful and out-of-place in supposedly "immersive" game.
Running requires stamina even outside of combat which makes exploring islands a struggle and you have to run around a lot because the hints you get from letters and notes are kind of obscure. I am yet to find that tomb...stone.
Jumping is extremely unresponsive and the edge/collision detection is garbage. Nothing to add.
Fighting. No feedback whatsoever, I can barely tell if I'm doing a strong secondary attack or just a basic one. Whether you hit an enemy or not can only be distinguished by sound, it seems. Parries seem okay~ish if a bit too requiring in terms of precision.
I didn't get to fishing so never really tried it but from what I got from patchnotes: is the only way of obtaining lures to buy from NPC? What is this, Korean F2P MMO?
Crafting is barebones. Just interact with stations. That is. Nothing new or inventive, kinda garbo for 2022/2023.
Animations are nonexistant. NPCs are just standing for the whole day, often in the same pose, animals just stroll, no crafting station interaction animation, no climbing ladders animation (and there are A LOT of ladders everywhere for some reasons).
I believe there will be no interactions between wildlife. I haven't seen one for sure, not like there is much of wildlife anyways...
Being a pirate? You can not in this game. No other ships to meet in the seas, no one to plunder (that is what i got from forums). Probably not even planned.
Sailing. Not a lot of fun to even steer one's ship because there are no proper physics, and you can just put the ship back in the inventory or pull it out of your a*s anywhere you want as if nothing happened. New Islands usually just pop up immediately on horizon so there is not a lot of worldbuilding in sense of a scale.
There are also some performance issues, the game every so often stutters very notably and annoyingly (I had it installed on SSD).

Then, why would one want to play this game? For the story? I doubt it is gonna be something mindblowing, something level of E.Y.E. or vangers, especially judging by its weak and generic beginning. Which is a narrative mess too, because you CAN NOT wreck your ship in-game while the story implies you did.

Don't get me wrong, I often leave negative reviews for decent games (ahoy to Valheim, which I know is actually a good game in its core but my critique concerned its development cycle and overarching mechanics rather than the basis of the game and moment-to-moment gameplay).
This one, on the other hand, is the exemplar of being really bad at everything.
Well, the graphics could at the very least be called good or scenic, I guess. That is, if the game was released 10 years ago. If you want some cool carribean vibe screenshots, log into ♥♥♥♥♥♥♥ SoT for once.

Yes, I know it's an early access game. So are Valheim, Satisfactory, Vrising and many other "open world survival craft" games and the difference in quality is stellar, now what?
