so glad i finally got around to playing this amazing game

the combat loop is tight and very refined with super fast, exhilarating shootouts that feel both intense and cathartic, seemingly drawing inspiration from john woo movies and the matrix (and of course you have bullet time). the movement system is likewise very fun, fluid and unique taking clear cues from titanfall while simultaneously being its own thing with acrobatic stunts and a unique aiming system unlike anything ive ever seen before in an fps

the main driving point of the combat is the fact you only have one arm meaning you cant reload and have to throw your weapon when youre out. this pushes you to zip around the map finding weapons or picking up your dead enemies' weapons which works really well to keep the game's excellent flow going. there are also some upgrades you unlock later on but ill leave discovering them to you

the level design likewise complements both the combat and movement systems extremely well, it all comes together so flawlessly, great game design

obviously sound design is amazing and every gun feels great to shoot but thats a given

i honestly loved it. very worth the $25 and i say this based off of just the campaign which while short, was definitely sweet
theres also a level editor complete with steam workshop support, unlockable modifiers, ng+ and two modes i havent even touched yet, one of em being a rougelite?? honestly great value, if youre seeing this and are debating picking the game up, do yourself a favor and pick it up at least on sale

im normally not into visual novels so i think it says a lot that i loved this one so much
im keeping it vague to avoid spoiling anything, it's really the kind of game where its best to go in knowing very little
intense, captivating, mind bending and downright messing with your senses at times, this is psychological horror done right like i genuinely felt my mind buckle at times

notice: bear in mind i have yet to play past the tutorial. will update the review after i do

i really like that this is a defend the payload local co-op twin stick shooter with a dab of RPG elements. that's one of the things the game does right in my opinion. it definitely has something unique going for it

now, the game seems like it could be fun (and it is; the little i played was surprisingly engaging) but do bear in mind it's very light on content, with just 14 missions not including the tutorial. though, i do not know how long each mission is/could be. i wouldn't say no to an endless wave mode or something like that, but sadly, it appears to be abandoned

i can definitely see it being a lot of fun with more people, and with the launch of steam remote play together, and the game going f2p, at the very least adding it to your library seems like a no-brainer to me

it's hard to say i recommend the game so much as i don't not recommend it. fun game, just very light on content

ps.: i got the game for like 0.99$, at the time i did, it had a major bug where nobody could move past the title screen, which is why i have 4.9 hours on the game, even despite only having played the tutorial. the bug has been fixed since then and the game is working quite smoothly(otherwise you wouldn't be seeing this review)

tl;dr - solid twin stick shooter that's light on content but has nifty ideas that would be fun in local/remote play together co-op and, as far as i can tell, great optimization(although i am running on relatively high end hardware). did i mention it's free?

This game is phenomenal. It is swift, it is brutal and it's exactly what DOOM in a modern era should be.
Get this game. 'Nuff said.
