If you like Backgammon, then this game is something up your alley, music overlaps and visuals are ok at best but the engine is solid.
Mind you, Senet has many variations and the one this game adopts may not conform with what you are used to, but I found it quite enjoyable,

Even though I'm giving this DLC a positive Review, I'd much prefer if Steam allowed me to call it average.
For a DLC, it's definitely a huge expansion, but how that content is handled, it's kinda meh.

It's definitely frontloaded, the more you progress the more areas you find that are quite massive yet lack the kind of entertainment that you'd normally expect from areas of such size, both in pickups, enemies and minor dungeons.
Even some Major story obligatory bosses completely lack presentation, the final boss gets hyped during the entire DLC and when you finally reach it, there's no dialogue, a barebones cutscene, they dont even say anything when they die and all you get is a 5 seconds cutscene where stuff you already know gets repeated.

The difficulty is quite alright, a lot can be mitigated through NPC summons and spirit summons but for my first experience I chose not to use either of them as to experience better what kind of fights this DLC had to offer.
Spectacle takes over most of the time, both on your and the enemy's side with the new weapons, although I found most options to lack in damage or versatility especially against some of the faster enemies, f.e. the beast claws feel extremely slow for the amount of damage they deal, by pressing the light attack button once my guy decides to do a pose, jump, and then finally swing twice, in comparison a great axe heavy attack is slightly slower but the damage is much better overall.

Regarding the scadutree fragment progression system, I didn't find it too annoying on my first run but I'm already dreading the idea of ever playing this game again if I have to go through this bothersome fetch again, in my view it could have been perfectly been tied to dungeons or bosses instead, but alas this is what we got.

Before I end this review, I want to dedicate aspecial paragraph to what I think is the most idiotic thing this Dev Studio put into one of these games: The Furnace Golem.
I'm sorry but where is the fun in whacking at this thing's legs over and over while it does nothing? And then you force me to try and throw pots at its head like a basketball hoop while it instead decides to stay out of reach and throw 10 homing explosive fireballs at me over and over? Change it, I beg you, it's a complete waste of time.

The game froze, yes, the 64 KiloBytes NES game managed to freeze on a somewhat high end computer, I've never had this issue on emulator, I just wanted to finish Castlevania 1 for the 7th time.

"Is Pool Nation FX...Bananas?"
For a few years i've been asking this question to myself, and i've yet to find a satisfying answer.
I'll be honest, i don't really like bananas, i mean, i do like them, but not that much, quite the perplexing conundrum if you ask me, but that's besides the point.
What i'm trying to say is: "What makes a game, bananas?"
Is the solution perhaps scientifical? Does a game need a certain amount of potassium within it? Or is it perhaps metaphysical, and the game's soul is veiled by an ethereal banana peel.
Maybe the answer was in front of us all along, but our too complex minds simply couldnt see it, look at monkeys for example, they love bananas, bananas are their essence, their fuel, their reason to be so yeah maybe monkeys are the answer, and speaking of monkeys, remember taht video of the monkey with a gun? That was pretty hilarious, i think it was an ad for the planet of the apes movie or something, anywa, funniest ♥♥♥♥ i've ever seen.
So yeah after 6 years and a half of research i think that monkeys may be the answer to it all so i went to the zoo to ask the monkeys there and i asked them if the game was bananas.
They answered, and then,
it struck me.
"Monkeys don't talk."
Dammit. Back to square one, ok calm down and think, what is also related to bananas? I... I don't know, yeah they are yellow, and they have a widely known phallic shape but tha- WAIT.
Phallic shape huh. There may be a chance that the Human Phallus is somehow related to it all, let's see... IT IIIIS made by 2 balls and a stick, a lot like pool but pools are mostly known aslo for the table, but where could the table be? What's the closest flat surface to the phallus...!
I cracked the code.
It was behind it all along, and i finally have the answer.
This game is not bananas,
This game is ass.
And the worst christmas gift you can give a person on 2016.
