Heavily flawed game with awesome ideas. Exploiting press turns is fun. The fusion mechanic could be it's own game. The random encounters have a rhythm to them that gets satisfying in practice, and knowing how to time them makes each step count when traversing a dungeon. The dungeons have various puzzles which are a mixed bag, but fun for the most part.

The story is more fun to speculate than it is to experience. Like most SMT games, it likes to smoke it's own pipe over philosophy and ethics. I like that the endings in this one are "reasons" instead of alignments this time, it's a nice change of pace away from "angel authoritarians vs demon anarchists or Taoist neutral route."
