HOI4 is an incredible game with extremely good value in the ammount of replayability it has to offer, unlike earlier installments in the series HOI4 is extremely easy to learn for a new player with controls being mostly intuitive and basic with simple visuals; however this does not mean that the game is not good for veterans of the series as it allows for more details to be given in the options as well as higher levels of difficulty.

Whilst I would recommend HOI4 to any fan of strategy games or history in general it has a few significant flaws: DLC is a huge issue in every paradox game with them locking out huge expansions which significantly increase the depth of a game behind a pay wall of $10-$20 this makes the developers seem less trustworthy to the community and for good reason as their main goal is to inflate their profit margins. The AI in this game is greatly criticised for it's pure idiotic nature with many of the army commands (that aren't dlc) not even functioning correctly with whole armies being redistibuted across a frontline when one province is taken and the AI not protecting victory points making the game extremely easy for a veteran player.

However whilst this okay 6/10 game is extremely flawed, the community makes up for it in the vast array of mods easily making this game a 9/10 if not higher, some of the mods are ridiculously silly and others add a plethora of content increasing the length of the game by nearly double with them being must have mods for any playthrough, whilst others completely change the setting of the game to unrecognisable worlds allowing you to continue playing this game as if it were new for as long as the community continues making mods.

Paradox can carry on scamming us for soundtracks as long as they leave the mods that give us the enjoyment they are too lazy to deliver. 9.2/10
