fixes a lot of vanilla's problems but you have to pay more to play a less cringe version of the game

I chose this game over Backbone, and I couldn't have been happier with this decision, given that this game followed up with what the free demo showcased; a fun skateboarding game inspired by older titles. Although the story/campaign is short, it's very sweet, and I've had a lot of fun so far zooming through the abstract retrowave-backgrounded streets of the three zones this game has to offer. The customization options aren't expansive, however they're definitely neat, and I like that you can EARN new ones by simply completing tasks in the game instead of breaking out your wallet.

This one's a little more niche, but I also like the phone calls you get during the game. There's not many of them, but they help breathe life into the game. Mom doesn't call to annoy you, she just cares about you! Racing the seagull was awesome too. The whole cast adds to the game's charm, my only complaint is that they don't have much to say. Even more niche, it's cute that Tanuki chitters every time you jump.

All in all, it's worth the money in my opinion.

Recommended. Absolutely. Buy it.

I don't think it's possible to truly express how much I've enjoyed Dead Rising over the years; it's the one game I care enough about to attempt unlocking every achievement, and despite the story mode's linear timeline of events, it carries an immense amount of replayability that's bolstered in no due short to the sandbox design and leveling mechanics. And that's before touching upon the peculiar "Infinity Mode", which functions like a sandbox with a survival twist (you have a "hunger" meter that's always draining your health, which demands scavenging for limited resources if you want to stay alive for long) but without any saving whatsoever. This game was unlike any other when it first launched on the Xbox 360, and in some way, still is; there's no experience that quite captures the dark-yet-whimsical fun you'll find in Dead Rising, not even it's sequels (although DR2 and it's spinoff Off The Record are definitely worth your time).

The time limit in story mode presents the player with a challenge that many are probably not familiar with. It's important to manage your time if you want to win, and while the game does create occasional lulls inbetween your primary objective to take advantage of however you see fit, you'll find that the greatest reward besides XP or beneficial items is more time to kill..literally, if you so desire. It's like a fun break after some hard work, and it feels more gratifying than simply ignoring the story because you earned it. The photography system encourages creativity, experimentation, and good timing to get the juiciest shots; of course, there's not much incentive to take pictures after you max out your level, but it's still a neat little mechanic that plays into Frank West's character really well.

It's not a perfect game, of course. There's still the occasional bugs left over from the original game, and of course, the infamous survivor AI is present in this game as well (I believe they wanted this port to be as "true to the original experience as possible", or something like that). It's true, they will likely drive you nuts at some time or another, and the chances merely increase with each one that joins your party. It stinks, but it is manageable; setting waypoints towards the safe house and guarding them closely has worked pretty well for me in the past.

The game's unforgiving in the first place, and will be difficult for new players, but the leveling system lets you come back stronger; not to mention that due to the static triggers of story events, you'll be able to develop a plan to take on everything the game throws at you. On the other hand, should you want to explore the story but keep on goofing off, you will feel it eventually. Dead Rising loves to throw sucker punches to the uninitiated. With some time and practice, anyone can put the beatdown on it, though.

I won't lie, I'm very biased in favor of this game, but that's only because it's earned so much of my praise for it. It's imperfect and flawed in some noticeable areas, but I can accept that and live with it, because there's so much good to outweigh the bad. It really is something everyone should try once, even if they're not a fan of zombie or sandbox games. Even now and I can still hear that music , clear as I did back in 2006..Give it a try and you'll understand why Dead Rising got such a sizable cult following in the first place.

Gameplay is fun and comes off as less of a bootleg Slender compared to WN1, but the community is basically dead and the last update was over a year ago. Can't recommend this if you are hoping to try the 4v1 asymmetrical gameplay without 4 friends to accompany you (or 3, if you'd rather team up against a bot creature), because you'll find it very difficult to come across public teammates or creatures.

My favorite thing about SoR isn't it's humor, but the progression which allows you to go absolutely crazy with your own character build. I play with my friends as an extremely tanky bat-swinger who also operates as an impromptu medic. If you enjoy roguelikes then I highly recommend this.

Over 10 years after the sequel hit and I still get drawn in to binge it from time to time. The devs completely nailed delivering an experience which is not only different in some way or another every time you play it, so that the action rarely gets repetitive despite playing the same 10 campaigns over and over again (not including custom maps). Playing public matches was absolutely awful a year into L4D2's existence, but it's become much better than it used to be, although you will occasionally run into that one moment where you got pinned and nobody came to save you until you're either down or dead...from like 5 feet away from you, lol.Workshop's been a gigantic boon for this game, and further amplifies how unique(ly hilarious) experiences can be; remember that time my buddy Nick turned into a goat and sliced Shrek in half with a kawaii-ass chainsaw? Well that's what I saw in my game, at least. The 3 others, I dunno about, but was probably some ♥♥♥♥ just as crazy. Playing this really makes me miss when Valve was dedicated to making not-Artifact games. At least we got graced with this series before they clocked out. Oh right uhh, recommended? Totally, the game's really fun if you can find some friends to play it with, buut public servers will still do you more justice than the somewhat-slow bots ever could. It's like what, $9 now? That's a steal, hands down.

It's a decent game, but to be honest the updates that I'd hope would've been in the game a few months after I started playing (pings, 32v32,etc.) weren't in there until over a year later, while cosmetics/breeds were a much more common addition as time went on. I don't mind waiting too much for game updates, it's just that things like the absence of map marking or pings made this game more difficult to play in team modes unless you had a mic, and even then that only did so much. It's another battle royale, a game genre that's been done to death and back, with a different perspective, and other than the fact that furries can enjoy their characters more easily vs. Fortnite or PUBG, there's not much else to rave about.

Admittedly biased towards games with any sort of climbing/parkour elements to them, but this game makes stealth far from boring, and while the enemies (Shape exempted) aren't exactly spooky, this is a blast to play even with randoms. Sometimes the leveling system can make character progression take some time after reaching lvl 3 (which is normal for a game with XP & levels i suppose), and customization unlocks can be duplicates with no compensation for an essentially wasted reward (i.e. no XP rate or another box to at least try again, which is a shame, because I do like the customization options, regardless of how the game describes it as limited).

Coop games are typically always more fun with friends, and Blackout Club is no exception, but the gameplay does a good job of giving players a reason to cooperate, given how missions are much harder alone. Give it a try if you like climbing/stealth based games.

It's a really bad game with flawed execution. They tried to be a tactical TF2 but failed.

For some reason, I still love it.

EDIT: Special thanks to Drop Dead Studios for responding to this review. Don't solely take my word for it if you're thinking about playing this game. I haven't spent a lot of time playing it to be honest, but I'm going to fix that. Pleasepleasepleasepleaseplease look at the comments on this review, because the developer really does care about their game and improving upon it. So glad DDS is reaching out to players for feedback.

EDIT #2: I have had a chance to try the "Outbreak" scenario after a recent update added an AI partner in single-player & plan to sample Multiplayer's new scaling system. The AI is servicable (i played as the new character Nora on normal & got Quies as an AI partner), but players may find themselves slowed down or in a pickle sometimes if they want their computer companion to make it out alive, as it appears to have a set-in stone response to situations (follow the player, shoot enemies who are in a close enough proximity that the AI is almost guaranteed to take damage, engage enemies the player faces in a combat stance at a certain range, etc). I almost tanked the "Outbreak" finale because a spider was gnawing on my friend while a boss focused on me, haha.

I sort of wish I could give a "half-thumb" rating instead of a negative one, because I do like the game a little. I cannot recommend the game in its current state to people looking for multiplayer, as the problems to be mentioned shortly make it a frustrating experience. I am still very interested in this game, so I will keep tabs on it and adjust this review accordingly. I've still got a soft spot for a game that revives the Resident Evil spin-off series. <3

This game is unfortunately too clunky right now, even for one featuring tank controls. I know what game it's trying to emulate (Resident Evil Outbreak) but the time taken to ready a gun or melee weapon & fire it is much slower and can get the player damaged in circumstances where, say, the camera is extremely zoomed in and you cannot notice an enemy until they hit you. Speaking of enemies, they move rather fast. Going further with individualizing characters by giving them a special move (i.e. a duck or kick) similar to Resident Evil Outbreak's cast would also be greatly appreciated. Melee weapons break very, very easily in this game; 2-3 enemy encounters on normal difficulty was enough for an axe, climbing pick or knife to break. This is a glaring issue due to the fact that enemies never stop spawning.

Multiplayer itself is way too hard right now, scaling itself rather high if you have just 2 players in a game; "Normal" becomes like "Very hard on Nightmare" in comparison to Single Player, which I had much less difficulties dealing with enemies. Enemies spawn more frequently and do much more damage. This wasn't such a problem in Outbreak because most enemies spawned a fair distance away, at a modest interval--they also had to get through doors first most times, which cease to exist if & after they are unlocked. Also worth mentioning is how meddlesome narrow hallways happen to be in coop, because you cannot shoot through somebody. Some hallways are simply too thin for multple players to engage enemies together while traversing through them. [NOTICE]: There has been a recent update which increases player health & healing effectiveness if games don't have full people--the less survivors, the better the benefits. I haven't had a chance to try multiplayer since this update, but will update when I do.

That being said, I am grateful that someone has attempted to make their own version of a game which is almost impossible to play nowadays. $15.00 is a bit much at the moment, given these issues & the lack of server popularity to try enjoying the game with other people. . The ability to personalize yourself with flashlight/laser/character colors is a nice way to differentiate yourself more, and the character designs themselves are refreshing after getting to know RE:O's characters so well. Earning & using one-time items to help boost survival is also an interesting concept. I'll continue watching this game in anticipation to see what the future holds. Hopefully this feedback helps!
