a decade ago i started playing this game.

i love this game, but it's not the same,
it's like they took my childhood best friend and gave them a lobotomy.
there's no more community, all the fun servers are dead.
being introduced to this game with fun community maps like mario kart and wacky races was the best
you'd get into the culture and watch things like "Team Fabulous 2" by the now late 'kitty0706', and just have even more fun with others.
then people started growing out of those servers, valve introduced more concepts like contracts and weapon skins.
then of course, a lot of bots started coming. thing is, you can just leave a valve server and find a new game, but community servers usually only have a few or one. that was the nail in the coffin for a lot of these community servers.

now it's pretty much just annual updates for maps and cosmetics, new crates, new skins/hats and 'we're working on it' notes.
i hope valve fixes their legacy.
