Can't even play this game because it's an unoptimized piece of garbage. 10-15 minutes into gameplay and it overheats my video card and crashes my computer.

There are games that are far more demanding resource wise and I can play them without a hitch. But this game just has it out to destroy my video card and at the moment there is no fix.

Early Access Review
I bought it when it was half off so I wouldn't have to pay full price when it's finished and released huehuehue.

Also for the haters, if you don't trust doublefine why you buying this game? Why are you complaining that a game labelled "unfinished" is unfinished?

Trust in Tim. peace.

The one thing I really like about Tropico 5 is that they really tried to make a new game. Anyone who's played the last 2 Tropico games knows that they're basically the same game with a little graphical touch up. Everything in Tropico 5 is different, from the apartments, to the power plants, everything has been redone.

A lot of mechanics have been improved to feel less redundant and more intuitive. Now you can clearly see how much space plantations will require, and gone are the days were you can't figure out how to get rid of the "garage overloaded" message.

The campaign has changed in a big way. Maps from the previous missions are saved and you pick up where you left off in the next mission. No more having to start from scratch, the campaign is much more rewarding, and finally allows for building sprawling cities.

But my favourite thing about the campaign is that it is finally challenging. I loved Tropico 3, but some of the missions in Tropico 4 were so mind boggling simple, they were exhausting. Tropico 5 brings the challenge in a new way and actually encourages building sustainablitiy instead of suiciding your treasury for mundane mission goals so you can win and start over.

I haven't played the multiplayer yet, and I don't really plan to. This is the first time a Tropico game has really interested me with its sandbox mechanics, and when I'm done with the campaign I think I'll spend a long time trying to build the coolest island I can.

While the learning curve is low (and there is no tutorial), it doesn't take long to realize that if this game had a mechanic to speed up time, it wouldn't be a challenge at all. Yeah there are moments where you frantically try and fix the pollution problem but once you find the right balance, all that's left to do is afk for an hour or so, or stare at your screen as your wallet slowly fills up.

It's really frustrating how slow paced this game can be. Morever there's no sense of progress once you beat a level. Nothing new to unlock, no new buildings, just more of the same sitting and waiting and tweaking.

It's no Escape Velocity. Lots of content but you're basically jumping from menu to menu. A little stale for my tastes but it looks like it could be engrossing. Plenty of bugs aswell, random ctds, unresponsive program, and sound glitches to name a few.
