Some really cool combat that becomes better and more complex as the game goes on. The story is sort of dark and I suspect it branches depending on choices you make. It was a good time.

I wish I could give a "meh" review. There are some really neat ideas in this game, and I generally enjoyed the early game exploring, but holy crap, does this ever become a "watch the numbers go up" grindfest to get to the end of it. I got an ending - I suspect there are multiple - after 67 hours, and I would say I enjoyed about half to 2/3 of those hours. I could have done some things more efficiently throughout to speed up progress, but whatever. This is a game that's trying to dip its toes in the Satisfactory/Factorio water, but it's absolutely not one of those, and it doesn't run nearly as well as either of them. I suppose it's a difficult thing to balance, but I wish they had increased the amount of exploring to do and reduced the amount of grinding to do.

If I'm not mistaken, that's 0/3 for me on games rated overwhelmingly positive in the last year or so. I'm beginning to not trust you guys.

I could just say it's a difficult 2D platformer, which is what I expected going in, but the way new mechanics are added over the course of the game makes it more varied than I expected. The last few levels, where the abilities get switched around quickly, are genuinely cool and difficult. If I wanted to get all of the collectibles in the game, my playtime would probably be double what it is, but eh.

Overall, it's really cool.

I just don't get the love for it. I think there are parts about the game that are great. I smile every time I do an upgrade and get one of those silly short cutscenes.

But this is some of the most naked "keep on putting resources into this thing to improve it so you can do more and continue to put more resources into it" that I've ever seen. And it will inexplicably split quests into multiple parts for no reason other than padding. And then, roughly the point at which I stopped playing the game, you get something that will let you move around a hub area of the map more quickly, and they force you to pay to use it, and the character who gives you the speedier travel says something like "well, of course you have to pay to use it."

It's not bad, but it's not as good as the ridiculous hype that surrounds it. It gets to be pretty monotonous after a while.

I wouldn't call it quite on par with something like, say, The Witness, but if you're a fan of first-person puzzle games, Sensorium is cool. It's not a huge time investment, and there's a lot of variety in the puzzles considering how relatively short it is.

Look, I don't know how you came across this review if you didn't already play McPixel. If you did, then you already know whether or not you want to play this game. It's really, really, really dumb. And I had a smile on my face most of the time I was playing it.

It's really damn cool. Makes you feel like you're way better at first person games than you are.

It doesn't overstay its welcome. Most challenges are intuitive once you've poked around at them and thought about them for a minute. It's a great way to pass an afternoon, although I suspect there are some deeper challenges I didn't get to.

This game eventually becomes fun, but it withholds movement abilities for way too long. It's a slog to play until you get some of those abilities, and those abilities come later than they should. It has other flaws, but they're minor compared to the movement.

I'm giving it a recommendation, but know what you're getting into. This game is no Ori until much, much later.

Who would have thought playing a game where you're simply trying to figure out who died and how would be a great time, but here we are.
