The AI, named VAL in Startopia part 2, is a dry-humor AI. This means that all puns that are negative are intended to be satire, mixed with a little bit of sarcasm. If this is not your way of thinking, you will not appreciate it. However, on the other hand, if you like dry humor, you will dwell a long time in Spacebase Startopia and laugh, smile, and for me I've even scoffed many times. Such is the way of VAL. She is what you would call a pessimistic AI who tries to make your day a little bit more interesting with her comments. The main theme in Startopia 2's AI story is that she will slowly begin creating innuendos toward the player what will end in something that may happen in the end of the single player campaign story, something that sneaks up on you, a little bit like the devil.
From Christian scriptures, the #1 thing that Satan has accomplished is to make most of the world believe he doesn't exist. So in a sense, this campaign game story-line plays out a little bit like angels and demons in the mind, and you'll realize in the end that your instincts probably were right all along. The irony of this story are the intentional innuendos, one after the other, until the final chapter when you will realize the truth.
I hope more of you can look at it this way, and realize that the AI with good? / evil? intentions here by the name of VAL whom doesn't like any biological entities, is indeed much more kind than we humans are many times in our life to each other.
