The official servers for this game are mostly hacked\glitched (google "swbf2 1hp bug") and big parts of the game are no longer playable. This has been going on since October of 2021 and as of writing this three months later EA hasn't said.... anything.

There is a third party server option, but, it is unpopulated.

Anyway, the game was fun but it is clearly now abandoned. Don't give them your money, and maybe think about how 2042 will be treated later before you buy that either.

Game isn't finished. Spend hours working on stuff for nothing, start over. Repeat.

If you want a console-esque button masher rife with QTEs and a checkpoint system worse than cancer, this is for you.

This game is ♥♥♥♥♥♥♥ trash. Sanctum 1 felt a little underdone, but at least it was a fun tower defense with fps elements. Sanctum 2 is an atrocity and isn't the same game in any way. It's a ♥♥♥♥♥♥ wave survival FPS that happens to have a couple towers.

Remember those giant mazes you constructed in sanctum 1? Say hello to a 15 tower limit. Playing with friends? SAME 15 TOWER LIMIT. Have fun dividing those up.

Remember that effective and useful overhead map? ♥♥♥♥ you, that's right outta here.

Remember televators making it easy to move around the map? Haha, yea ♥♥♥♥♥♥♥ right.

Remember upgrading your weapons? Nope. That's gone.

Remember how your used to be able to craft a path with your towers? SAY HELLO TO BOSS UNITS, ♥♥♥♥♥♥♥♥♥♥♥♥. They'll kick stomp right through your ♥♥♥♥ and go straight for the core. Because ♥♥♥♥ you, that's why.

Oh, but you can turn on sandbox mode and place all the towers you want. But it's unranked, you don't level up and you won't ever unlock anything. So enjoy placing your 1 tower over and over again. The devs claim this has to do with resource utilization. It hurts my brain to think they can't run more than 15 towers and a handful or NPCs when the first one could run dozens on older tech.

Any the game will start before all players have joined and readied up, meaning some players can miss the first wave entirely. And, and base tower blocks are now a separate resource and are randomly and unevenly distributed to players. Wave 1: Player 1 gets 0 base block points, Player 2 gets 10. Have fun.

And despite all that, they still have the nerve to charge for multiple overpriced DLC packs. Want a powerful weapon or tower? Pay up, ♥♥♥♥♥♥♥.

Coffee Stain took Sanctum 1, which had some fun and relatively unique mechanics, and tossed it in a blender with some feces and broken code and then took a big ol' sanctum steamer right on our chests. This game is worse than Sanctum 1 in every conceivable way. Do not buy it.

Payday 1 was great. Payday 2 started out alright but over time has devolved into a cash grab. I have like a billion hours in this game but enough is enough.

Pros
1. More stuff and things (tower types, superweapons)
2. It's sort of like new content for those that liked DG1
3. It's kinda shiny

Cons
1. More stuff and things (tower types, superweapons). Yes, it's both good and bad.
2. The towers don't feel like they do any damage anymore. It's meant so that you have to upgrade via various methods, but really it's just frustrating as hell if you liked the first one. I understand it's a different game, but quite frankly I don't want to play a DG where a lone gun tower struggles to kill a lone swarmer. It all feels underpowered and cheap. Every tower feels like a downgrade compared to the first.
3. They took the character interaction from the first one and multiplied it by 100. Sure, it's endearing at first. But they other AI are all CONSTANTLY RETARDED OR INSANE AND THEY TALK FOR ♥♥♥♥♥♥♥♥♥♥ EVER. No matter how much you liked him talking about raspberries in the first, you will be tired of these morons bantering.
4. The maps feel smaller, like they're meant for less towers. There is far less of the open maps where you get to build a path. Instead they try to make to navigate the multiple tiers of configurable ♥♥♥♥♥♥♥♥ you didn't ask for.
5. It isn't DG1. All I wanted was more DG1.
6. The price is absurd. It's managable if you get it on sale but don't spend more than $5 or you'll be annoyed later.

Bottom line, there is something about DG1 that this is missing. Some simple spark, some novelty, something... is lost in a wash of pointless enhancements to a game that was already great.

I played for about a hour before realizing this was a "we've already played for you, press the button when we say" kind of game. Maybe it gets better, I will probably never know.

It looks good, but I just don't see why I'm required to play at all. Since there is only one way to do anything, why not just have it press the button for me?

Meh.
